House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-L.I.) said he'd fight President Bush's plan to give illegal aliens a path to citizenship........
Bush will propose sending National Guardsmen to guard the Mexican border and giving a chance at citizenship for millions here illegally when he speaks to the nation at 8 p.m. tomorrow.........
"I will oppose any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country............that's amnesty, and it's a magnet for more illegal aliens," said King.
"I give the president credit for proposing using the military - and he's the first president to do it - but citizenship for illegals is still amnesty"...........

I think you hit the nail on the head with that question----that's what it amounts to.
As someone posted: the aliens want to turn America into Mexico with benefits.
Why don't they protest in Mexico about the satrap Mexican government-of-the-wealthy, and its unwillingness to provide for its citizen.?
Why do US taxpayers get stuck with subsidizing these parasites?
Getting ready for the Fourth of July.
I believe pols are hearing from constituents---that they do not want amnesty.
The anti-amnesty movement is a consensus issue that cuts across the political spectrum, encompassing all shades of political thought.
The last I heard Giuliani was saying to go ahead and legalize them. I'd like to see him run for president on that platform.
Rudy would get smoked with that opinion.
I have lost any respect for that man.
That will serve the purpose just fine.
Who's idea is that?
Everyone I talk to Dem or Repub is against any kind of amnesty.
I am remodeling a bathroom for a couple, her mother came here from the Phillipines the legal way. She is against amnesty, she learned english and raised her kids to be Americans.
Nice lady, she lives in NYCity and is contemplating moving up here.
He's also a little shaky on the 2nd Amendment. Maybe we could talk Tancredo into running instead. :)
Let's see Rudy defend his immigration politics while he was Mayor. Giuliani sued all the way up to the Supreme Court to defend the citys pre-911 sanctuary policy to thwart a 1996 federal law decreeing that cities could not prohibit their employees from cooperating with the INS.
"Oh yeah?," said Giuliani to his naysayers, "Just watch me." The INS, Rudy claimed, with what turned out to be grotesque irony, only aims to "terrorize people."
Very poor choice of words, Rudy.
Though he lost in court, Rudy remained defiant to the end. On September 5, 2001, Rudy'a own boys---his handpicked charter-revision committee---ruled that New York City could still require that its employees keep immigration information confidential "to preserve trust between immigrants and government."
Six days later, on Sept 11, 2001, several foreigners who had overstayed their visas participated in the most devastating attack on New York City that our country had ever seen.
Oops....should have pinged you to the Rudy immigration espose, posted above.
Ya, I go along with that.
Giuliani's policy toward illegals did seem contradictory considering his overall toughness on crime. Illegal aliens by their very presence are breaking the law, not to mention all the other crimes they commit like document fraud etc. I don't see how he can successfully defend that record in the primaries should he run anymore than McCain will be able to with his position.
What an idiot..
That is probably the reason why the HAVA act has not been done.
They are supposed to have a voter list completed, voter eligible, not vote age as they would like it to be. This gives the dems in the city an overwhelming majority in the assembly and out number us because of it.
They count all the illegals for representation.
Clinton had a formula---figured the number of votes according to how many he let in.
Giuliani is more "likable" than Hillary, and he does look better in heels. But those calves of his could use some lipo.
OTOH, maybe McCainiac can get it up where Rudy couldn't. LOL.
You can't federalize the National Guard troops otherwise they will be unable to perform law enforcement functions under the Posse Comitatus Act. They would only be legally allowed to support the border Patrol unless Congress passes an amendment to change posse comitatus. However, if you leave the NG under state control it would be perfectly legal to use the NG for law enforcment purposes. Though I suppose you could argue that stopping an invasion is not the type of law enforcement that Posse Comitatus prohibits or perhaps one could argue that Article IV's injunction to defend the states from invasion would supercede any law anyway..
Giuliani does have a sense of humor and would be preferable to McCain, who's a lunatic. I'm still hoping for Tancredo or even Allen to get in the race though.
You are so right.
This is the first time in 30 years that I haven't gotten involved in Republican (or any) politics at the local or national level, simply because I am so sickened by George Bush's anal immigration proposals.
I don't even have any campaign signs on my lawn or vehicle, precisely because I am so turned off by the fact that the political party I once trusted is now possibly gonna stab me and my grandchildren in the back by legalizing and allowing the increased flood of third world culture and politics, not to mention radical gangs like MS-13, drug smugglers, along with massive health risks due to the fact that border jumpers bring in all kinds of disease and pestilence.
I am truly depressed, almost to the point that I can't stand even watching the news anymore.
