I think we could reasonably deport 10 million, but at what cost?

What is the cost of permitting 10 million to stay here?

Mine is a much better question.

SOURCES: BUSH PLANS NATIONAL GUARD ON BORDER...

Certainly wouldn't want to REALLY enforce REAL laws against employing aliens would we???

A great "Venting" topic but you might just as well debate the waves & tides eroding the sand from beaches!

But is there ANY number of illegal aliens that CAN be deported? One million? 500 thousand? 20 thousand

We do more than that every year now. They just come back.

"I voted for him. Put his dam signs all over and boy do I regret it. He's destroying this country."

First, President Bush is not destroying this country. Maybe the illegal aliens are damaging the country. Maybe a lot of people are not stopping this from happening, but the President is not destroying this country.
I am amazed at the people who voted for this President twice, and expected him to change to suit their needs.
This President has not changed his position on this issue, or any other since running for office in '99.
For goodness sake he spoke Spanish at a campaign stop during the first campaign.
President Bush does not govern by polls. He does not wet his finger, hold it in the air, and try to figure out which way the political wind is blowing. The last President did that, and we all said we didn't want another one like that regardless of his stance. At least I did.
I didn't support President Bush in the primaries. I didn't think he was conservative enough, and I didn't like that compassionate needed to be added to conservative to make the great unwashed like him. That being said, since he won the primaries, I have supported him every step of the way.
Do I like, or agree with all the things he has done during his presidency? Hell NO, but he is still my PRESIDENT. Not shrub (this is not aimed at you nmh), not bush (lower case, and without Pres. or Mr in front), not the liar, or the RINO in the White house. He is still the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES, and deserves the respect accorded to the office.
Also while I don't agree with him on every issue, he is a damn sight better person, leader, everything than the two idiots that opposed him for the office. One of them is a proven traitor who should have been hanged back in the 70's, and never been allowed to run for the office of President.
I dare say all of us who are standing up for the President on these forums want the border secured. I want it secured yesterday. Yes, I think more attention should have been given to the issue since 9-11. But you guys that want to disrespect the Pres. tell me who was the last Pres., or any federal office holder to bring ANY plan for the problem up for discussion. It sure as heck wasn't the last one who was selling our country's security to the Chi-coms, and the Indonesians, and getting hummers to cover it up. By the way, to the poster who had those charts up to show how much better job President Clinton did on deporting illegals, could it possibly be because the law enforcement community has had a little more on their plate since 9-11? Maybe they have been slightly preoccupied with finding young middle eastern men who want to blow us up, and infect us with some God-awful disease, rather than raid construction sites, and landscaping companies.
I don't want them here either, but the realities are if you try and round them up and deport them all, or if you try and cut off services to them, the left in this country, you know the ones we're gonna put in charge this year while we throw our collective temper tantrum, are going to trot out, before the cameras of the drive by media, every sick, hollow cheek dirty faced Mexican child they can find. They are going to file lawsuit, after lawsuit, tying up the actions, not to mention the courts for years to come, all the while scoring the sympathy vote from the 80% of the country who don't read FR. All those Americans who get their news from the Today show, while eating breakfast, saying "look honey, President Bush and the Republicans are starving those people to death. Pass the Corn Flakes." We had a couple of brave Conservatives try to cut off just county services here in Mecklenburg Co. in NC. In 2 hours everyone that supported the issue had been made into Hitler, and Pol Pot rolled into one by the lib politicians, and their willing accomplices in the media. Some are still receiving death threats as a result.
So good luck. I will support any efforts that come down the pipe short of killing, or physically harming. I will stand up and declare that the illegal aliens should not be here, and should not be allowed to come here. I will NOT be disrespectful of my President, allow the Rats to take control of the Congress, or generally throw a giant hissy fit because the solution to a 40 year problem is not served up to us in 6 months. Those of you who do, are making this great forum feel like the DUmp.
Maybe Mexico was able to get all those people across the border in short time, but that was because they WANTED to come HERE!

right. the wall is cutting down on the undesirables in Israel and the lack of one here is not...bud! LMAO

If you don't see a complete difference from both a tactical as well as a strategic POV in terms of the wall Israel is building as to the one some are suggesting we build here....you are simply unwilling to be intellectually honest on the subject.

They are using their wall concept (a wall mind you that wouldn't take up even a fraction of our U.S./ Mexico borer in the State of Arizona alone!)....but they are using their wall as a method to stop suicide bombers -

Again, trying to compare the wall in Israel to our needs here is simply intellectually empty. The comparison is utterly empty on so many levels -

Do you really think that you don't deserve to be ridiculed a little for taking the pose of being all worried that "People aren't posting because they don't want to be drilled and mocked for their opinions anymore."

Are you too dense to realize that I made that statement in reply to all the moaning and whining on here about how "mean" the BushBots have been to everybody? Some of these people need nails to hang themselves up on crosses for all the victimhood they are claiming; it goes both ways.

Come on, buck up! You're a serious, gutter-fighting pajama monkey. This ain't nothing.

I'll give you 50 points for trying to put the best face on what you really said. :-)

You should be loving this cause I got all this egg on my face.

Yeah, but now you'll be a hero for taking on the big bad Howlin.

Do you know that some people coming onto these threads have gotten Freepmail telling them to get off "our threads?"

Hey. I want one of those.

..employers are prohibited by law from verifying social security numbers? It is "discrimination by national origin" enacted during the Clinton administration.

...employers can't be prosecuted for hiring illegals if they were fooled by fraudulent papers (which they couldn't verify)? Again, a law passed in the 90's.

Did you know the name and date of these laws?

Do you have a link?

Thanks.

This thread is about illegals and people are going to trash him on that. If you can't take it don't read them.

Well, thanks for your honesty and admission that I'm right. These threads are all 'trash Bush' threads, and people who agree on the issue, but respect the President are forced to either take abuse, or leave.

You have just admitted to the heart of the problem...........and we can't get anything done as long as guys like you feel like you who have a disdain for President Bush 'own' the illegal immigration issue.

You guarantee that nothing will be accomplished on these threads. And THAT is my point.

I have no objection whatsoever to a fence, wall, or barrier. I would just leave it to those on the ground to decide the best method to stop illegal border crossings, I don't have a commitment to one method or another. Some people are hung up on teh National Guard being deployed, others want a wall. One way or the other, I'm sure the job can be done. I was just responding to a discussion of the best method.

generally speaking, I think you need a multilayered approach of enforcement at the border and with employers, and using high tech as well as patrols, fence in certain areas, and better law enforcement at all levels as a deterrent.

How are you going to identify them when they apply for amnesty?

So start with the Border States, that's one third we deport first...You think we can't find them? Start with work place, and ERs. Go to the schools, (gasp!) because they are well aware of which students are illegals.

Citizens can report them as well (gasp! again).

Many ways to find them. It's not going to be done over night. All we need is the will, and we'll find a way.

Sure, those that pass will waltz right in on a job, paid with a check taxed at 80% to pay for social services consumed by those morons that couldn't pass.

Don't you get it? He sees bi-lingualism and multi-culturalism as good thing. I don't. If he was saying that about any other ethnicity I would be saying the same thing.

I've heard "nation of immigrants" more times in the last six weeks than in the last five years. Multiculturalism and bilingualism have made their respective contributions to society, but what you're talking about is full-blown cultural anarchy under the guise of diversity and an appeal to some outdated, warm and fuzzy sentiment. Some, both in the GOP and Democrat party, would prefer America look like the bar scene in Star Wars.

Would we--conservatives and Republicans--have acted this way during the Clinton years?

Cutting off a great majority of new ones is not impossible - we could also nuke our own border and make it completely radioactive - I'm asking at what cost?

Yeah I can't wait to to see the 6 o'clock news stories live from the latest ICE raid on Emergency rooms. You folks are so far out you will never find your way back.
