Members of the Minuteman Project will stage a rally at the U.S. Capitol today to celebrate the end of a cross-country caravan meant to protest the flow of illegal aliens across the border.
"This is a Trojan horse a covert invasion," Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, said of illegal immigration.
The caravan began in Los Angeles May 3, and participants have been holding rallies in several states along the way. The caravan's "official pace car" is a 1970 Mercury Cougar dubbed "The Spirit Of Allegiance."
The final rally is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the park on the Senate side of the Capitol.
Prominent national speakers at the kick-off rally in L.A. included WND columnist Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, the founder and president of BOND the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, and social activist Ted Hayes.
Addressing the rally, Peterson commented, "Illegal immigration is having a devastating effect on the black community. African Americans are being put out of jobs and out of homes."
A rally also occurred May 6 in Crawford, Texas, home to President Bush's ranch.
"We are doing what the original Minutemen would have wanted us to do," Gilchrist told WND. "We are bringing the message to Washington."
According to its website, the Minuteman Project hopes to "bring national awareness to the decades-long careless disregard of effective U.S. immigration law enforcement."
A recent poll indicates concern about illegal immigration is now the No. 2 issue among Americans, next to the war in Iraq.
Gilchrist, who is being talked about as a 2008 presidential candidate, believes that by Election Day in November, "voters will show conclusively that illegal entry by foreigners on U.S. soil and the issue of 'guest worker amnesty' is at least as important to the American people as the war in Iraq."
We are being overwhelmed by a population coming here illegally, and everything after that is fruit of the poisoned tree.
Urges avoiding tourism to the States of Senators who are soft on enforcing immigration.
Became a carpenter in 1976 after coming back from Viet Nam. Made 1,000 dollars a week. Says white American employers hired cheap labor, and he and his family has suffered economically because of it.
Black homeless activist who supports the Minutemen. They stand with Gilchrist and all Americans. "These colors do not run."
This invasion of our nation is a direct threat to black people in this country. It is the greatest threat to black people since slavery. The illegals are being abused by a culture of corruption south of the border, and flee north to be enslaved by substandard wages. Blacks have been slaves, and won't be slaves again, and won't allow the mexical illegals to be slaves either. Can't allow the invasion to continue - in rememberance of the civil war dead.
Talking about how the La Raza and Aztlan ancestors sacrificed people by taking out their hearts. Says that Sharpton and Jackson are also ripping out the hearts of Americans.
"Power to the Minutement."
When did it become 30 million illegal immigrants? Last I heard it was 8-12 million.
The counter demonstrators finally quieted down, not sure if they were moved back or what happened.
Good turn-out for the MM rally, I thought.
Ted Hayes, the homeless activist, provided a lot of interesting comments too.
Gilchrest taking questions now, calling for the prosecution of the "slave-traders".
She was quoting pro-illegal alien extremists I believe:
This is a statement by José Angel Gutiérrez, then an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at Arlington (and a former leader of the La Raza Unida political party) at a Latino conference held at the University of California, Riverside on 14 January 1995, regarding the effects of California's recently-passed Proposition 187 ballot measure (which sought to bar illegal immigrants from public education and other social services provided by the state):
"The border remains a military zone. We remain a hunted people. Now you think you have a destiny to fulfill in this land that historically has been ours for forty thousand years, and we're a new Mestizo nation. And they want us to discuss civil rights. Civil rights! What law made by white men to oppress all of us of color, female and male! This is our homeland. We cannot, we will not, and we must not be made illegal in our own homeland. We are not im-mi-grants that came from another country to another country; we are migrants, free to travel the length and breadth of the Americas because we belong here. We are millions. We just have to survive. We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. It's a matter of time. [laughter] The explosion is in our population.

This is a statement given by Art Torres, a former California State Assembly member and State Senator, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, at the UC Riverside conference referenced above:
It is an honor to be with the new leadership of the Americas, here meeting at UC Riverside. So with 187 on the ballot, what is it going to take for our people to vote, to see us walking into the gas ovens? It is electoral power that is going to make the determination of where we go as a community. And power is not given to you; you have to take it. Remember: 187 is the last gasp of white America in California. Understand that. And people say to me on the Senate floor when I was in the Senate, 'Why do you fight so hard for affirmative action programs?' And I tell my white colleagues, 'because you're going to need them' [laughter].Audio of that statement

The is a statement by Augustin Cebada of the Brown Berets de Aztlán, a paramilitary offshoot of the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), delivered during a Fourth of July rally held outside the Federal Building in Westwood, California, in 1996:
"We're here today to show L.A., show the minority people here, the Anglo-Saxons, that we are here, the majority, we're here to stay. We do the work in this city, we take care of the spoiled brat children, we clean their offices, we pick the food, we do the manufacturing in the factories of L.A., we are the majority here, and we are not going to be pushed around. ""We're here in Westwood, this is the fourth time we've been here in the last two months, to show white Anglo-Saxon Protestant L.A., the few of you who remain, that we are the majority, and we claim this land as ours, it's always been ours, and we're still here, and uh, none of this talk about deporting. If anybody's going to be deported it's going to be you. "
"[SHOUTING] Go back to Simi Valley, you skunks! Go back to Woodland Hills! Go back to Boston! Go back to the Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You're old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you; leave like beaten rats. "
"You old white people, it is your duty to die. Even their own ethicists say that they should die; that they have a duty to die. They're taking up too much space, too much air."
"We are the majority in L.A. There's over seven million Mexicans in L.A. County alone. We are the majority. And you're going to see every day more and more of it, as we ... we manifest as our young people grow up, graduate from high school, go on to college and start taking over this society. Our people ... are ... the vast majority of our people are under the age of 15 years old. Right now we're already controlling those elections, whether it's through violence or nonviolence. Through love of having children we are gonna take over. "
8 to 12 million is the "official" govt figure, which is thought to be white-washing of the true figures.
I've seen upwards of 20 million which was given by Bear Stearns, I believe.
No one really has an accurate figure, it could be higher.
The Sensenbrenner bill will allow 30 million illegals to stay here, and then more will come. It will result in a couple of hundred million illegals.
The bill will only work if it is funded for enforcement to put the "slave traders" under the law, and put them in jail. (Slave traders = those who hire illegals.)
Illegal immigration affects black Americans because they take jobs from black Americans. The illegals work for no benefits, and the employer laughs all the way to the bank. This helps put stress on the middle class.
Urges Congress to do the right thing.
There is an ongoing terrorism threat because the nation does not "respect" its borders. You cannot guarantee security, democracy, and freedom abroad if you cannot guarantee it at home. (Quoting Edward R. Murrow)
Predicts a 2 decade tsunami invasion of illegals if this bill is passed. Says law enforcement will be overwhelmed. Also suggests that the White House may be occupied by a party other than Republicans and Democrats (Minutemen Party - hee hee)
Adversaries are funded by Ford foundation, La raza, supplying buses to bring people in, funded by Georg eSoros. Minutement is funded by citizens. Minutemen are trying to preserve a nation.
Predicts that a politician who supports deportation will get at least 40% support.
Says the opposition has thrown bricks at old ladies.
Says 70% are journalists are jaded and biased.
8-12 million is a large number anyway and 20 million is still within a very high range but sometimes, like 30 million, seems like it's going beyond the range that actually turns off the positive impression of what's trying to be accomplished.
I couldn't type fast enough to get Coe's comments. The gist of it seemed to be that she was quoting someone else who said that it is the duty of old white people to die. I'll have to wait until there is a repeat to see if I can get it more accurately.
"No one is illegal, Minutemen are evil."
=====
Well, isn't that wonderful. They come here illegally invading our sovereignty, and they call good American citizens, grouped in the tradition that formed this great Nation, evil.
MM need to begin a refrain of "Remember the Alamo!"
That would incite a few responses.
lol
When you consider that last year alone, 1.2 million were caught and turned back, and that for every one that is caught, 2 or 3 get in undetected, last year there may have been 3 million new illegals added to the number.
That's been going on for years.
I'm not so sure it's not close to 30 million.
In any case, no one really has any idea.
Even if it's "only" 8 to 12 million, when each of those is given amnesty, they become anchors to bring in their family members.
10 million x 5 or more family members? How can we assimilate 50 million or more people in a short time, especially since many of them don't want to be assimilated?
The nation is rapidly becoming balkanized, and will pull apart at the seams.
Why hasn't the media asked the people supporting the ILLEGALs, where they are from and who has paid them to be there. Notice, it appears, not many Hispanics are protesting with those supporting the ILLEGALs.
It seemed that the police did a piss poor job by allowing the pro-illegals to be so close to the rally. Later it seemed that they were quieter. Hoping for an update from Kristinn when he is able to do so.
That wasn't her own quote, she was quoting that nutty hispanic professor in Texas. I may or may not have the quote somewhere with his name attached. Will try to find.
Thanks for the updates. Quite interesting. The MM are true Patriots!
