Though well-respected, Novak and his sources are not free from a challenge, so let me do the challenging.
Are Novak and his sources implying that the most morally conservative voters in the United States would rather endorse a left-wing, abortion-endorsing, socialist-leaning, gay agenda-adopting, Bill Clinton-marrying, liberal than a God-fearing, card-carrying conservative Mormon, who has had remarkable success in business and in politics, and who has shown he is able to win a liberal state like Massachusetts? Either something is very wrong with Novak or something is very wrong with the Evangelicals he is interviewing.
I have never nor would I ever tell a member of the Church (or anyone else for that matter) how to vote. We make every attempt to fullfill our civic duty and vote for the best qualified candidate. Of course the lesser of two evils is the choice most of the time. There have been members of the Church I would not and did not vote for in local elections (no one 'here' is perfect). Most folks vote their beliefs and values.
If a candidate reflects the majority of those values then he/she gets my/your vote. The only reference to politics I've ever witnessed from the pulpit is a reminder to vote for the BEST candidate (whether they are qualified or not is another issue of course). It takes a special personality to recognize and avoid self gratification. Public service provides an abundance of temptations and avoiding them is difficult without the required self discipline of the servant and his or her support team. If a person lives by a set of values that dictates that their behavior is honest and selfless, and they make decisions based on facts, sound logic, knowledge of acceptable social laws, and in the best interest of all, then there is not much that could be better. Of course you can't and won't please everyone. Do your best and make your staff do their best.
But we already know all this....
Blessings to all,

Bad timing?
To be fair, I'm a naturalized Southerner. I don't always think like a native Southerner, but my wife's family loves and accepts me anyway. I used to get alot of "Bless your heart".
Wait for the debates before deciding. If Mitt is good at those against the hildabeast, vote for him. It may be a moot point by 08, but divided government usually yields better times for the sovereigns ... that's us, BTW.
Phil wouldn't touch that ticket with your 'poll'. He may be a viable dem candidate in 2012 however. He's doing a good job in TN.
I always before liked Romney but plain and simple, he recently made it clear that he does not have the sac to stand up for real principles.
This BS health care he just signed here and vociferously (despite his line item vetoes) supported proved that he is not worthy of consideration for my vote in 2008 or any other year.
The vetoes were over ridden, but he knew in advance that was going to happen.
My conclusion....he ain't really running.
