Yes. In our system the party in control heads all committees and organization of the House or Senate.

I'm going have to take a peek at MTP just to get a load of Pelosi this morning. LOL!

They're saying that the drop in Bush's numbers are due to CONSERVATIVES.

So, they say CONSERVATIVES are complaining to MSM as if regular people pay ANY attention to them. Take for example this Poll: 1/3 of Youth Can't Find La. on Map

Despite the wall-to-wall coverage of the damage from Hurricane Katrina, nearly one-third of young Americans recently polled couldn't locate Louisiana on a map and nearly half were unable to identify Mississippi. They couldn't locate Iraq either.

Keep pounding on Katrina & they will turn you out. They know where Iraq is, just will not answer silly questions.

At 21 years, they are smart enough to train Iraqi army soldiers and receive Bronze Star from Vice President Dick Cheney. They tried to insult our Prez. in 2000 to name Pakistani President & declared he is not intelligent. Rest is history.

The GOP has 6 months to energize the base in those areas where there are competitive races.

And to get their act together on amnesty for illegals. IMO, that's the #1 issue that will cause Republicans to sit out the elections in protest.

I for one am very tempted to do just that, but we'll see how things look in November.

Democratic Senator Specter is (once again) one of the main impediments to getting immigration right.

Yeah, they're saying that in the on air promos now, and the TV listings show that, but the FNS web site still lists Gilchrist and not Biden.

Specter and Gilchrist were supposed to discuss immigration.  I agree with those that think they're dropping immigration as "old news" (I think because the American people don't agree with the MSM) and switching to Porter Goss.  Specter has already started making noises about blocking Hayden and raising a stink over the NSA program, so it makes sense to keep him.  Switching to Biden, though, means they'll have two harsh administration critics.  As I say, hopefully they'll let Brit and company loose on these clowns.

Personally I think this is the opening shot in the new White House communication strategy.  I detect Tony Snow's fingerprints all over this.  I'm betting the timing, the selection (maybe not specifically of Hayden, but of someone like him) and I suspect the content is very "in your face."  This is the White House saying "we're right, you're wrong and stop making unsubstantiated charges."  Hayden will not sit still for mischaracterizations of what the NSA program really is.  He'll nail Specter, Biden and the rest of the low IQ high decibels crowd in the Senate who are overdosing on ego supplements.

And Tony starts the stand up briefings tomorrow.

I repeat my predictions.  GOP pick up of 1 to 3 Senate seats and 5 to 10 in the House.

The only time I listen to Bob Brinker's "money talk" radio show is when Larry Kudlow is on as substitute. He has had substance abuse problems and battled back to be very successful. whattaguy!!! Very appealing in many ways besides the Genius financial Talk.

Old media is making noises about Republicans staying home this year but it's just wishful thinking as they continue supporting Democrats.

Somewhere on Free Republic was a poll where 13% of FReepers wanted to see the dems win (I imagine to punish the republicans for not being conservative enough). I hope this amounts to a negligible segment of our voting base. In any case, they seem to be a pretty vocal group here.

No, not redeem himself. He is working for the good of the [dem] party. They have to smear Pelosi so much that "everyone" will realize that "when" the dems take control of the House next January, a new Speaker will be forthcoming, not Pelosi.

Sounds like Pelosi is still trying to rally the Lefty base, when her rant(s) (they will continue) will more than anything remind many why the Dems should never be allowed back into power.

Desperation should never be confused with campaign strategy.

"Wallace just said that Goss' resignation was "apparently forced". I've been out of the loop, is this true?"

There are several threads on FR. From what I've read and heard, there is a lot of speculation on this, as follows:

1. Goss and Negropointe didn't get along and N wanted Goss out.
2. Goss didn't like the fact that N was taking over some of the duties, including daily briefings w the Pres that Goss used to have.
3. Goss originally only signed up for a short time - he's been in 18 mos and wants to leave.
4. Goss only signed up to 'clean house' at the CIA. Since he fired the traitor Mary McCarthy, his house cleaning work is done.
5. Goss is going to run as a Pubbie Sen candidate in FL against Nelson since Harris isn't doing very well.
6. The #3 man at the CIA, Fuggo, is under investigation for 'hookergate' - -attending poker parties, etc at the Watergate that involved the same businessman that is under investigation for providing hookers, etc to Duke Cunningham.
Goss went to some of the poke parties (but no one is accusing him of being involved w hookers).

The thing that is really rich about some of this speculation, is that some of it is being spread via articles by none other than Dana Priest and Walter Pincus - - talk about chutzpah!!

This doesnt seem like Patches wake up call, still I hope it works for him. The problem he faces is more than just drug abuse. He has been raised in an enviroment where bad things are covered up and excused. In addition, numerous immediate family members have walked on serious charges because of who they were. This enabling that he has grown accustomed to will be one heck of an obstacle to surmount for him in treatment. Accepting personal responsibilty for ones actions is difficult if you have been living in a fog of booze and drugs. This is the voice of experience writing. If Patches really wants sobriety, he will have to accept a lot of things contrary to his upbringing. If he is serious about this, he has a tough row to hoe, and since a lot of people were in my corner that I didnt deserve when I accepted my addiction, I will be in his..

Just my opinion...

Biden's new plan is an "old" plan

Yeah, that's why I put it in quotes.  I should have just put the quotes around "new."

So you think that the Democrats are the answer to your amnesty concerns? And that what this country needs if a few more good liberals on the SCOTUS?

Typical Democrats. Once elected they claim things are worse than they realized so they will have to raise taxes and deficit spend to catch up. By that time, it's too late since the election's over.

LOL! OH YEAH! that's right!

Howlin asked - where was she on Thursday...

I retorted that she was negotiating her price for her story!

;-D

talk about a CULTURE of CORRUPTION! THe whole- "I'm on my way to vote." was nothing more than a rehearsed and planned response for him if he was ever pulled over...

THIS is the stuff that irks me...
I have compassion for people who want help... I have no patience for people who lie and and are willing to put EVERYONE ELSE at risk so that they can do what they want, and not be accountable.

SOmeone could have lost a son- or a duaghter- or a father- or a mother- etc....

this guy shows NO REMORSE, NO SHAME, his response it nothing but PROTECT MY JOB. PROTECT MY IMAGE...

HE is much too important to have to be bothered with adhering to laws to protect us commoners...

THAT is what ticks me off.....

/rant off....sorry....

(taking deep breaths.... going for more coffee.....

"the dangers of Ambien"

I've been prescribed Ambien for jet lag and international travel, and the idea that the recommended dosage would cause "sleep driving", intoxicated behavior, and car crashes is ludicrous.

Even if you wake up after 3 or 4 hours (the reason they have the new Ambien time-release scrip), the worst effect is that you wake up and feel a little woozy. Not intoxicated.
