WASHINGTON - Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.
Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.
The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a presidents term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

I wasn't discussing the subject of spending. Tax cuts and generating record federal revenues are mutually exclusive of spending.
And if you know anything about the 'debt-to-GDP ratio', then you'd know that the USA is one of the most healthy in the world.
As I told you, Bush gave me a great economy... That's all I ask. I'll take care of the rest myself.
You whine too much.
conservatism=whining.
Ok now I see.
As I previously said, moderates have no objection with compromising, but we are reasonably certain that you won't be interested in that. If you don't get what you want, you'll stay home or vote third party.
You are scaring me. You are arguing like a liberal - incoherent. Would you like to discuss a real subject such as I mentioned about the debt-to-GDP ratio?
"I want the GOP to retain 55 Senate seats and hopefully add to them."
I am with you.
Changed party's?... Sorry bud, you have me confused with someone else! I have been a Republican ALL of my life. I have been a Conservative much longer than that!!!!!!!!!

One insignificant opinion.

The MSM with the big lie, said often enough...people believe it. Drives down poll numbers, self-fulfilling prophecy.
"WE" pay federal taxes to fund the Fed, and Congress set up FEMA for disaster relief. If it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, you can challenge that premise in court.
I didn't hear your type of complaint when the Fed cleaned up the Twin Towers, or when the Fed cleaned up the rubble after California's last bad quake. Natural causes, or an act of War... disaster management cannot be handled by the State alone. Louisiana and Governor Blanko proved that fact beyond a shadow of a doubt. Haley Barbour was magnificent, but he had plenty of aid from the Fed to handle things properly. It will take a strong alliance of both for success.
"OUR" Nation was founded in Faith. You take GOD out of America, and America will be GODLESS! A GODLESS America will not endure.

You God that right. A gold star has been placed next to your name. Bless you.
America is a two party country. Pick one or the other. Anything else is a waste of your vote.
Anybody can read FR and see that this is true.
Excellent ideas. I Iike the idea of starting small. The left is excellent at incrementalism. They know Rome wasn't built in a day. I hope your are in some sort of political position. Thanks for your response.
You started with the ad hominems. Don't complain about how I am arguing.
I am fully aware of the debt to GDP ratio. The United States currently owes $8.3 trillion. Our entire economy is $11.75 trillion. That means our public debt is 71% of our entire economy.
This would not be an overwhelming ratio (although it is pretty high historically) if spending were headed in the right direction. Unfortunately, the GOP big government programs are heading us in the wrong direction. Just consider that the SS/medicare liability alone is going to be twice as large within 25 years.
What is wrong with asking our politicians to do a good job on both sides of the books?
The GOP was a coalition before you came to it, and will be a coalition long after you leave it, which you most probably will. History says it's likely and that it will happen in '08.
As for your whine, if I had a pic of some cheese and crackers, you could have a nice snack. Nice to see you present your colors, as usual.
Just pitiful really.....
But that is not what generally happens, or what happened with the exchange between me, and EV.
What he did, and almost always does, is to launch directly into a personal attack.
A person can take that is one of two ways. You can respond in kind, or you can blow it off with a bit of sarcasm and humor.
It is usually the case that sarcasm and humor are taken as personal by anyone who is so wrapped up in their own personae that everything to them is personal and rational discussion is unwanted and rejected in favor of a spitting contest. This is the case with EV and most blind activists on both the liberal and conservative side. In fact, you cannot tell the difference between them if you did not know something about the individual.
This is the disease that is damaging the coalition, and I have come to the conclusion that it will not be cured without some pain to the party.
Either it stops, or the GOP with collapse from within without any assistance from the Dems.
You know it, I know it, we all suspected it and now it is happening.
Either this party gets along with it's own membership, or we will have to dismantle the base. It is obvious to anyone who cares, and has been repeated many times over the past three years and in previous election cycles.
The warning was issued, the dire predictions were made, and now the reality of it will occur. I don't think anyone on the conservative side has ever had any inclination to stop it, so the blame is easy to place.

Of course it is, for you, as I've predicted it would be all along.
The blame could never be with leaders who ignore conservative principles and treat the conservative base with arrogant disdain. /s
George is doing a great job with the war on terror, EXCEPT here at home
Your right, George also said that we will fight the war on terror "over there" so it won't come here, but, if the border's are NOT closed the enemy will come in.
Another reason why George's border policy is a disaster and that effects us here at home.
