Not at the expense of making us look weak. I dont care how bad his punishment is. Putting him to death would have send a more clear message to terrorists that are not in custody.
This is a stupid move.

Didn't he want to die? If so, he didn't get what he was asking for. So there be some kind of justice in that.

Actually- I'm not even thinking about whether or not they made the correct decision. My problem..is the mitigating circumstances the jury clearly favored- because this man had a troubled childhood...his life is spared.

BULLSHIT
With mandated Cable TV, snickers bars, healthcare, televisions, books study time, degrees and such Jail is gravy today and many people like it better on the inside because they have ZERO personal responsibility. This cat is going to be by himself for the most part with a gravy life paid for by you and me. Unreal.

That may be true in this case (debatable), but certainly not in the general sense. People fight tooth and nail to have a death sentence commuted to life in prison.
