There is a prayer vigil tonight in Montavallo Alabama to honor those Hispanics that died crossing the border and to pray for Hispanic soldiers in Iraq.
Thought that sounded a bit exclusive myself.
"I stole your car, blame the cops!"
A lot of families with small children.
Every time we ramped up border security without addressing the demand side issues and business/banking/ and insurance regulations, we made that underground economy much larger, and if we did as some here ask, we would make it ten time bigger than it is today and ten times harder to control.
Wonder what they ate?
And I wonder why I'm getting an urge to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail? ;)
(Bring out your dead!!)
Wow. Millions of people out there. How long before the riots start?
What about fresh raspberries? Can they be washed clean? I don't want to live w/o raspberries.
My husband teaches horticulture and won't buy anything unless he knows where it comes from. Even that doesn't prevent all problems. We buy nothing edible in our house that comes from Mexico, including canned goods. Also China and India. Something else that is dangerous that people know little about is cut flowers, my husband's specialty. Most come from countries that have few standards. The spray they use is extremely carcinogenic. He has his students wash their hands immediately after handling them at all. He was very upset when I told him that children at our church had been handing out roses last Mother's Day. Said children should NEVER touch flowers and adults should wash hands afterward.
Not until tonight . . . if at all.
Everytime I hear Bring Out Your Dead now, I want to laugh. In February I was at a local war -- Estrella War, it's called. While my husband and his brother went out to fight, I offered to watch my nephew. We had a wagon in which three of my boys were piled in. My nephew walked in front of me with my daughter. At one point I took a wrong turn and became hopelessly lost. As I passed a camp a man asked, "Are you collecting children. I have two you have have." He then said I looked like I should be yelling "Bring out your dead"
Like I said.........MAJOR backlash from legitimate Americans.
I went to BJ's, Lowes and Walmart. Very peaceful and quiet. Only heard english for three hours. Very nice.
LOL! Now THAT's funny!
They are a major contributor to the Democrats, and are a unionized business, and they're a direct competitor to Wal-Mart, which non-union and a large contributor to the GOP. Won't find me setting foot in a Costco.
To paraphrase Pogo: we have met the demand side problem, and it is us. Illegals are firmly entrenched in every industry and in every phase of the value-chain in the US economy for one reason: they appear to provide P&L savings while masking their true long-term balance sheet costs.
This type of smoke & mirrors is routinely practiced by governments, businesses and citizens alike. Witness the number of refinanced mortgages used to buy depreciating assets like autos, boats, etc.
The only real value of illegals to us is that they remain illegal; once they're legalized, they no longer provide the short-term P&L benefits that appear to attractive and irrestible.
So, we can't legalize, deport and/or otherwise encourage them to leave by their own volition without having a tremendous inflationary effect on our economy.
As it turns out, we're also currently embroiled in a WoT that threatens to escalate to nuclear confrontation. The smart money knows that the status quo will be retained - for better or worse, we're locked in a death embrace with our southern neighbor.
I can't report anything here because I'm at work.
I work at Coors. WE'RE open for your business, ya know....
(Sorry, can't help but plug this place)
I'll report what I see when I get home from shopping after work.
In Hawaii, "May Day is Lei Day". Beautiful flowers everywhere, everyone wearing leis, on May 1.
