Considering how many on FR have vowed never to attend a movie again, that's pretty good...
Why would you buy this movie?
Sure, it looks like a great film, but how many times could you sit through it?
The reviews have been excellent across the board.
Everyone should see this movie.

It won't even be the most watched movie this weekend.
Seems like pretty good numbers. The weather is gorgeous here in the northeast.
It didnt do too bad, it'll pick up today and have good legs Im sure (on word-of-mouth). But it is a bit of a disappointment; this should be a 100 million dollar movie, and it probably wont make much over 50. This should be a lesson to people that always complain about "Hollyood junk", thats what people want. Rv and 'Stick it' are crap movies, but they will likely both beat United 93.
One problem is the R rating. That keeps alot of teens out of the theater who may want to see it. I think theyre too strict with enforcement of the ratings anyhow, this movie is a good example of why they should lighten up. Teens should see this movie.
Or donate the ticket price directly to the 911 memorial fund. As much as we should be supporting "honest" cinema, if it's only for the 10% charity, make it 100% and give credit to the film for your inspiration to do so.
..but I usually go there to check out the box office numbers and reviews for the weekend...

I saw the movie last night. It was great, all FReepers should go see it ASAP.
Look at the numbers, it had the highest per screen. It opened in fewer than the others.
I saw it on Friday and it was a fantastic movie - sort of a "Just the facts, ma'am" type of movie.
For anyone interested- this evening on A & E they're having a whole line-up of 911 shows and interviews with some people who for one reason or another DIDN'T take Flight #93. These shows begin at 7 PM Eastern..
I read somewhere that the movie lasts the same lenght as the actual flight.

Well, let's see. Farenheit 911 made $23m in its first box office weekend. United 93 has made $3.6 millon in its first day. United 93 would have to make about 7 million on its first day to meet the F911 standard.
So it's doing about half what F-911 did, but remember, it's not yet in wide release yet, and it's known as a film that will be difficult to watch. Say what you want about Moore, he IS entertaining.
United 93 cost $15m to make and I don't think there's been much advertising. So in the end I expect United 93 to give its filmmakers and investors a good but not spectacular return on their investment.
Don't fool youselves, though, about the MSM. This film's gotten plenty of coverage. Anyone with even the slightest interest in the film and its subject matter knows it's out there.
At the same time, they did say it would be hard to watch, and that might not be good for box office. However, I've seen the trailer, both in the theater and on QuickTime, and it's obvious the reviewers are right, and this is powerful, harrowing stuff. The MSM can't be blamed, in other words, for being honest about the film.

I just saw the movie. It was tasteful and well done. Many people were crying by the end of the movie. It did have a powerful effect. There was a scene when the passengers were praying and at the same time the hijackers were praying (the passengers were praying for their lives, while the hijackers were in the process of killing, the difference between Christianity and Islam).
Because I want it to make lots of money so they make more of them. I bought "Passion of the Christ" for the same reason, but have never watched it.
