Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.
Details have been read by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Basically, the charge of doctor shopping is dismissed, with some conditions.
In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:
"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.
"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.
"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."
The actions taken today are as follows:
-- The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.
-- Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of "Not Guilty" with the Court.
The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:
-- Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.
-- After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.
-- Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.
Hannity and Colmes is talking about this now...Lowry in for Sean...and they are spending more time on this...with more excitement...than they did the Mary McCarthy story..
BTW...I don't know if you have heard...but I heard Chris Wallace on with Mike Gallagher this morning..and he said on Sunday night they are having a special about the 10 year anniversary of Fox News Sunday.
Given the consequences of becoming addicted to pain medications, I think the public would be well served if the meds were not so freely dispensed.
Great post, multiply that times 100,000 and you will realize what a great man he is.
It could be any number of things that caused it. The age and health of a person, what type of field they work in, and what type of medications they're on, or a combination of all the above. What Rush suffers from, Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease, is caused when the body's immune system attacks cells in the inner ear that are mistaken for a virus or bacteria. AIED is a rare disease occurring in less than one percent of the 28 million Americans with a hearing loss.
It's hard to diagnose, but once the hearing is lost in one ear it will quickly spread to the other. That's the only tell-tale sign of Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease, and precisely what happend to Rush's hearing.
It was a suggestion, and thanks.
And then some people will open a can of whoop a$$ on themselves. I'm on my second bag of popcorn enjoying the show.
...your tagline is awesome. I assume you take no prisoners.
Fine.
But, you're more than "discussing", you're passing (a misguided) judgment against Rush Limbaugh.
And, I object, for all the reasons stated in my previous post.
Have I not this right?
What consequences? "Not guilty" means "not guilty".
Thanks! Good to know you're out there.
Nevertheless, Rush has the smarts and funds to resolve this problem rather than simply going along with the game......
Sorry dearie. Rush is no better than the least of us.
Which fact? The "fact" she heard from the call-in lawyer whose name she can't recall on Dan Abrams' show?
2000s
Deafness
By August 2001, Limbaugh's listeners had noted changes in his voice and diction [25], changes that Limbaugh emphatically denied on the air. However, on October 8, 2001, Limbaugh admitted that the changes in his voice were due to complete deafness in his left ear and substantial hearing loss in his right ear. He also revealed that his radio staff was aiding him in continuing to accept calls on his show, despite his rapidly progressing hearing loss, by setting up a system where he could appear to hear his callers.
The system worked remarkably well, but did not convince all listeners, some of whom noted a long delay between a caller ending his point and Limbaugh responding, and occasionally speaking over a caller. Occasionally Limbaugh had to ask callers to hold on momentarily, while the caller's comments would be transcripted and shown on Rush's computer monitor.
In December 2001, Limbaugh underwent cochlear implant surgery, which restored a measure of hearing in his left ear, and his voice and enunciation improved.
According to Limbaugh's doctors, Limbaugh's deafness was caused by an autoimmune disease. When Limbaugh revealed [26] in 2003 that he was addicted to pain killers, some doctors drew a link between his deafness and his drug addiction that resulted from the medication Limbaugh was prescribed to alleviate his chronic back-pain.

Why don't you link some of the BS I've said about Rush right here.
I can wait while you find some.
