Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.

Details have been read by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Basically, the charge of doctor shopping is dismissed, with some conditions.

In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:

"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."

The actions taken today are as follows:

-- The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of "Not Guilty" with the Court.

The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:

-- Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.

-- After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.

Where was it proven that Rush's hearing loss was caused by drug use?

I must have missed that. If you could provide a link that would be great. I was under the impression that it was caused by an autoimmune disease.

I wish everyone sued every time they thought they were slandered by the MSM. I suspect by their rush, the NBC affiliate was trying to gloss over something and FR proved it so.

Heard from Levin that he had a mug shot.....so I guess technically he was charged with a crime. That the charge will be dismissed in 18 mo. if he meets the conditions.

I admire Rush's hard work to wealth. Most conservatives don't realize how important Rush is to our present day struggle against Liberalism and the demcrap party, but you can see by the pursuit of him by dem operatives that THEY REALIZE HOW MUCH HE MEANS TO US. One more thought: his wealth has allowed him access to some very powerful and important people and he's used that pathway to help the conservative awakening in America.

Seems to me a pretty brilliant mind, AND a showman.

Agreed, LS. There has been no one in my lifetime who can extemporaneously speak and make his points endlessly like Rush. Mindblowing, actually. He comes from a family of lawyers and has their mind, without the legal training.

I think we're on the same team.

If not, tell me how you feel about

Nixon

Weinberger

Gingrich

Livingston

Bennett

North

Libby

Rove

Dr. Laura

Rush

and, of course,

Tom Delay

I personally feel they're all great Americans (I hope you do too), and most certainly compared to Ted Kennedy and the Clintons, et al.

I just don't understand why the good guys can't seem to put up a fight, other than smiling for their mug shot.

I don't see that as any kind of victory.

He plead not guilty. It is up to the Prosecutor to prove otherwise. He ain't doing it.

Odds are that it was an Alford pleading meaning that he refuses to plead guilty, but acknowledges that a finding of guilty is most likely to happen in court. It has all the same consequences of a guilty plea, but instead of pleading guilty or nolo contendere, one simply pleads not guilty to avoid court, but accepts the consequences anyway.

This scum-sucking DA has a great racket going here.. .

Essentially, he can walk up to any citizen, at any time, and say "For $30,000 I won't charge you with murder. You pay me the money. We won't actually charge you with the crime, you plead not guilty, and if you don't actually murder someone within 60 days we technically dismiss the charge we didn't file."

Anyone else try something similar and you'd be charged with blackmail.

How bizarre! Rush has entered a plea of not guilty but will be paying for the investigation that brought this charge which will be dismissed under the agreement?

Five years for what? To become a billionaire? (or is he already?)

He has been going strong for over 15 years. I will predict he will not leave until he wants to.

I will never forget the day I found Rush. I love him for that and I always will.

I think everyone remembers their first time hearing Rush. Mine was in the late 80's, I was looking for the ball game and came across this guy about to perform a caller abortion. I was hooked instantly.

DU just went through another "President Gore!" "President Kerry!" "Rove indicted!" rollercoaster.

They were dancing on their keyboards about a Limbaugh arrest, only to find out they were jerked around by their buddies in the media, yet again.

Undoubtedly there were more abused prescription meds behind those posts than Rush Limbaugh could have done in ten years.
