Religion may hinder Romney in '08
Chicago Sun Times ^

Prominent, respectable Evangelical Christians have told me, not for quotation, that millions of their co-religionists cannot and will not vote for Romney for president solely because he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If Romney is nominated and their abstention results in the election of Hillary Rodham Clinton, that's just too bad. The evangelicals are adamant, saying there is no way Romney can win them over.

Seriously?! Then he thinks every woman makes "stem cells" monthly. Why not use those for science?

Stating and defending the truth of biblical Christianity has nothing to do with "knowing it all" but rather being faithful to that which I and Christians have been entrusted:

"Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you" (2 Timothy 1:13-14).

It should be noted that Christians do not have an option in this matter, we are comanded to ... "contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints." (Jude 1:3)

The Apostle Paul in Galatians 1:6 - 10 also has a great deal to say about other so-called "gospels":

"I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;

which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!

As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ."

Paul goes on to later say:

"I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:

preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry" (2 Timothy 4:1 - 6).

God's Word is crystal clear about the Christian's responsibility and response to false doctrine c.f. 2 John 2:9 - 11:

"Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting;

for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds."

Now, while none of the above is "politically correct" and may not sit well with you or others on FR it is God's attitude and command regarding false doctrine as is proclaimed and followed within the cult of Mormonism etc... and the Christians response to it. If you have a problem with it; take it up with the true and living God.

You know I also have those part of the scripture as you and what the Lord also has give me more to know!

And I I have the same position as you do to defend the word so you do not have a corner on the market just because there are more of you that is not how it works!

You see it your way you believe the word of the Lord through the Nicene Creed who was decided by a political clergy of Constantine,

I believe the word through Jesus Christ who annoited Joseph Smith to his to be His Prophet, by which also the Keys of the restoration was given over by Peter, James and John and also the keys of the coming of Elias in this last dispensation!

You can go toe to toe but the LDS also have the same scriptures!

The differents the Lord told us to defend him is through keepping his commandments, doing his will and to Love One Another

D&C 10(Also admonish the saints not to content over doctrine!)

57 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I came unto mine own, and mine own received me not.

58 I am the light which shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.

59 I am he who said—Other sheep have I which are not of this fold—unto my disciples, and many there were that understood me not.

60 And I will show unto this people that I had other sheep, and that they were a branch of the house of Jacob;

61 And I will bring to light their marvelous works, which they did in my name;

62 Yea, and I will also bring to light my gospel which was ministered unto them, and, behold, they shall not deny that which you have received, but they shall build it up, and shall bring to light the true points of my doctrine, yea, and the only doctrine which is in me.

63 And this I do that I may establish my gospel, that there may not be so much contention; yea, Satan doth stir up the hearts of the people to contention concerning the points of my doctrine; and in these things they do err, for they do wrest the scriptures and do not understand them.

64 Therefore, I will unfold unto them this great mystery;

65 For, behold, I will gather them as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, if they will not harden their hearts;

66 Yea, if they will come, they may, and partake of the waters of life freely.

67 Behold, this is my doctrine—whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church.

68 Whosoever declareth more or less than this, the same is not of me, but is against me; therefore he is not of my church.

69 And now, behold, whosoever is of my church, and endureth of my church to the end, him will I establish upon my rock, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.

70 And now, remember the words of him who is the life and light of the world, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Amen.

In All Due Respect time is well spent doing the will of the Lord, his word can defend by the action of his Children....quarrelling is not very productive and distance one from the Lord!

Thank you! What a treat! Makes my heart sing -/b> There was a long hiatus from traditional art - from the days that pushed Bougeureau aside until the past few years. I was born into the wrong era for making money in art - I couldn't paint "bad enough" :O)

I had no formal instruction but was fortunate to be in the right places at the right times for some good lessons.

Ranes works are inspirational, both art wise and for the spirit.

This one is one I'm going to have to save up $ for. Masterful -

Also the portraits of Whitaker's - Makes me want to get out my oils. I have been working in pastels and watercolors for some years, haven't done an oil for a long time. Here's one - pastel - I recently did of one of my granddaughters.

I am trying to keep an open mind about mormonism but I must admit I find some of their practices are deeply offensive. Baptism by proxy would be at the top of the list. Its insulting to Christians.

Romney is the odds on favorite to win the nomination, if Rudy does not run. Write that down, as an early tip.

I laughed so hard when i read that i damn near choked on my dinner. Romney has no chance of winning the gop nomination, were not going to turn around and nominate a flip flopping politician from massachusets after we just crucified the other side for doing the same. Look at JohnnyZ's about page for more info on what a worthless politician Romney is. Connect, A lot of romney's so called support is coming from former rudy supporters who are trying to find an alternate. They dislike mccain, as most of us do, but are still more moderate than they are conservative and as such prefer Romney. They see him as a way of sneaking in their moderate in hopes of fooling conservatives, something rudy had no chance of doing.

Your not missing anything, all these apologists are just trying to provide Romney some cover even though the program screams of socialism. When kennedy and her thighness are propping it up and saying its a good program, you know theres something wrong.

Unfortunately moderates in the party just don't believe this. They think if they pump up a liberal candidate like rudy or romney that the christian right will just suck it up and vote for them.

Clever ploy by the media to blame his guaranteed loss on the Christians when in fact it was his socialist pen.......

There's a lot more than that. The prospect of getting your own planet and becoming a god also leads to some weird things. Women can get messed over pretty bad to, especially if they leave the fold. But I'm trying to be polite.

>> Not to worry, we'll beat those east coast devils! Aw, Billy, you know the southeast is not part of the east coast. Just like Florida isn't in the South. And parts of California aren't California. And the UP is like a mini-Canada. <<

Well, clearly by "ANYONE on the EAST COAST", he meant "ANYONE from NEW ENGLAND", since we reguarly "trust" a TON of politicians from "east coast" states.

Even going by the "New England" rule, Judd Gregg is from New Hampshire, the heart of yankee New England if there ever was one. Does this mean freepers intensely distrust everything he does and would never vote for the guy in a future primary for a higher office?

How about Michael Stelle -- he's from Maryland -- east coast state AND ultra-liberal state to boot. He's running higher office now, a federal office to boot. Do freepers not "trust" him? That would be really surprising news here, since he's getting donations from conservatives all around the country.

There are so many "exceptions" to this "We don't want ANYONE from the east coast" rule that is effectively rendered meaningless. If it was strictly enforced, about 1/3rd of the conservative icons on this forum (Ann Coulter, Mark Sanford, etc.) would be universally depsised. The whole thing about conservatives unwilling to support Romney due to his religion or geographic location is a smokescreen. The reason why conservatives don't like Romney is he ran too far to the left on the issues when he was eleced governor. Period. (What they fail to see is Mass is so far left, Romney's actually the most conservative Governor the state has had in decades)

Now the sad fact is that if Romney were a minority female "R" and had the same platform, a bunch of "conservatives" would happily overlook it. Lindle Lingle and Condi Rice are social liberals and many conservatives fall head over heels for them solely because he want more "diversity" in the party. Hypocricy knows no bounds.
