Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio networks original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.
Through an agreement with ICBC, WLIB will be operated as a joint venture and programmed by P1, a company run by former Clear Channel and Jacor Communications executive Randy Michaels. Michaels is expected to program a progressive-talk format, but replace AARs network programming with more local programming. A likely addition to the new lineup: Ed Schultz, the left-of-center talker syndicated by P1.
To be clear, Air America will not go silent on the New York City airwaves. We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation, said an AAR spokesperson.

While the left-leaning radio networks original lease .......A likely addition to the new lineup: Ed Schultz, the left-of-center talker syndicated by P1. left-leaning? left-of-center? why are they afraid to call it liberal? they never use 'right-leaning' or 'right-of-center' to decribe conservative radio

I know you are joking, but THERE HAVE BEEN pirate radio stations operating out of New York City in the past (most of them short-lived funky music stations).

How can one tell? Were they ever really on the air? Did anyone listen to them? If no one listened, how can they claim to have done a broadcast? Is that a new twist on the old line about a tree falling in the forest and no one being around to hear it?!!! :-)

It's the left-wing radio network with Commie hosts such as Al Franken and Randi Rhoads. It was supposed to take America by storm and crush Rush, Levin, and Hannity in the ratings. LOL!
The MSM made a big huge deal when AA was getting launched. Do you suppose they'll make a huge deal out of the fact that it failed in about 2 years???

I worked on her show back in 1998-99 as a board op. I met Freeper Seeking The Truth down in Palm Beach and he told me about FR in late 98 and I signed up a few days later....been here since.
Randi is a total hack who is nothing more than a liberal dunce who has everyone doing research for her. All she does is read the NY Times and left wing websites and then shouts at people. I truly can not stand the woman as she is a royal pain in the ass.
She got her name in South Florida radio from her days at 103 WSHE...where she used to bang all the hair rockers from Great White...Jack Russell was her side thing back in 88-89.

Rush had a caller this week who claimed to listen to AA.
Rush said he had heard they had a listener, and was happy to be talking to him.
LOL!

Guess we'll see a big push by the media to draw attention to the Fairness in Broadcasting Act or whatever it was called. You're not alone. Neal Boortz predicts that reinstatement of the so called fairness doctrine will be an early priority of the next rat controlled Congress. That would kill conservative talk radio.

They should consider hiring David Lee Roth.
I'm sure he can save them.

That's fascinating. Do you have any idea what the odds of that one single listener actually getting through to Rush on the air? It must be astronomical...

How do you do BWAHAHAHAHA in, like, 32 pt. type?
I'm their biggest listener (no kidding). These mean-spirited pr*cks deserve nothing but utter humiliation. Especially that little sawed-off hatemonger Janeane Garofolo. SWEET!!!!
