Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio networks original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.
Through an agreement with ICBC, WLIB will be operated as a joint venture and programmed by P1, a company run by former Clear Channel and Jacor Communications executive Randy Michaels. Michaels is expected to program a progressive-talk format, but replace AARs network programming with more local programming. A likely addition to the new lineup: Ed Schultz, the left-of-center talker syndicated by P1.
To be clear, Air America will not go silent on the New York City airwaves. We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation, said an AAR spokesperson.

I listened a few times when 77WABC was on a ten minute commercial binge. Randi Rhodes is a psychotic nut who rants and raves, but has nothing substantive to say (example: "George Bush wants to melt Persian babies")
and Al Franken has got to have the most boring monotone in radio. It isn't their left wing politics that killed them, frankly, it's that they just don't know radio.

HBO made an "HBO Special" about the launching of Air America--it was sick-making toadyism.
You think they'll make a sequel about the squelching of AA? I won't hold my breath.

What? We have millions of listeners! Those who do not listen to Air America, their stomachs will roast in Hell! |

"We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation, said an AAR spokesperson.LOL! ALL that ErrAmerica does is "comment on hypothetical speculation." It wouldn't know a "fact" if it hit them on the head.

How can one tell? Were they ever really on the air? Did anyone listen to them? If no one listened, how can they claim to have done a broadcast? If a radio station broadcasts and no one listens, does it make a sound?
