WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Iran lacks the capability to block the world's leading shipping route for crude oil exports.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies said the Iranian Navy, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has failed to procure the platforms or weapons required to block the Straits of Hormuz, the passage for 60 percent of the world's oil trade. In a report, the Washington-based center said the United States could block any Iranian attempt to attack Gulf shipping, particularly from the sea.
"Iran could not close the Strait of Hormuz, or halt tanker traffic, and its submarines and much of its IRGC forces would probably be destroyed in a matter of days if they become operational," the report said.

Mahmoud the Mad persists in drawing to an inside straight.
Even with the recently installed Silkworm sites along Irans coast I think the outcome would be pretty much the same. We'll just put all the tankers passing through the Straits under the US flag and dare Iran to start a war.
If they shoot at US flagged ships then they're fair game for everything the US Navy can unleash on them.

I think it will be much quicker this time considering the assets we have lurking around the area. I'm sure everything worth worrying about already has at least one set of crosshairs on it.
Within 24 hours all the Iranians will have left to launch are rubber rafts- something for the boys to shoot full of holes and have fun with.
That article is a good find, Wiz. ...good work!
If Iran will bloc the route by whatever means how the heck will they ship their oils?... they might want to eat crude oil candy bars... for life!
I seriously doubt that any one site will get more than one or two shots off, but that will be enough to do some damage. However, once those sites do fire something, I think their survival time will be measured in seconds. That reality will most likely cool the ardor to shoot at American flagged tankers.

In the runup to our confrontation with Iran you will read a dozen stories from all of the usual MSM suspects. They will all intone, without actually saying, Iran can stop the whole world flow of oil. They will also try to dig up some ex-military people, Generals are preferred, to say Iran can block the Straits of Hormuz.
They will not, however, find anyone to say differently. Then the polls will come out asking "Considering that some military experts predict that we may not get any oil at all, do you support the Presidents decision to attack Iran?".
Then the selfsame MSM members who began the lie will trumpet the results.
Its how they work and its disgusting. Imagine for a moment if they put half the effort into supporting the President that they do into looking for the next gotcha moment. How nice would that be?
I call him the Iraniac.
Considering that Iran has no refineries and has to import all their gas and fuel, this plan is "Stoopid" enough for Mamood the Moron to try......

Such is the thoughts of most muzzies... destroying everything first before realizing the bad consequences..
LOL
"I'm sure everything worth worrying about already has at least one set of crosshairs on it."
Count on it.

Makes you wish that Bush would take a tactic used by Lincoln during the war of Yankee aggression.
Close down and occupy with federal troops, all newspapers that printed false or incindiary stories.
Frankly I would love to see US Marines suddenly appearing in the News room of CNN and shut down the cameras during a live broadcast in the Networks main building.
Is it against the 1st Amendment? Yes, most likely. But we are in a war of survival and if they are not with us, they are against us and that translates into Treason in my opinion.
But that's just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
The Chinese are building a huge terminal on the Iranian cost on the gulf of Oman.
When its finished, they will be able to ship oil regardless of what happens with Hormuz
Short of Almighty God freezing them cold . . .
I don't think anything but death will cool the Iranian's ardor. And, it's fine with me if we cool their ardor by accomodating them.
But I don't like the puppet masters setting it up such that the Iranians and No Koreans start WWIII.
And that prospect gives the Mad Mooslimb entirely too much glee for anyone's sane comfort.
Armageddon lurks certainly enough and close enough without a leading Middle East power seeking it with eager attraction.
If something happens at Hormuz the most affected and will likely suffer hard are the Arabs and most esp. the Persians... it may be terrible as well for the world oil market but history shows that non-muslim countries are good and well-experienced with energy source alternative. the fact that its the non-muslims who discovered the oils in the ME... It's impossible for the rugheads to discover it themselves because all they do is fight each other, have more wives, think of the 72 virgins, and rape camels lol... sarc/// the later part
