Bush apologized to Hu JinTao over a disruption by Wenyi Wang, a Fan Lun Gong protestor.

The protester who disrupted a White House ceremony for Chinese President Hu Jintao remained defiant yesterday, even after prosecutors charged her with a federal crime punishable by up to six months in jail.

If this woman is jailed for telling the truth, things are really going down the gurgler!

Wow...I don't even know what the Falun Gong believe, but that's unbelievable. I can't believe some people want us to cozy up to China. This stuff probably happens on a daily basis there.

During yesterday's court hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela George argued that Wang's statements were not protected by the First Amendment.

"She was yelling at the president," George said. "You can't walk into a theater and yell 'Fire!' The First Amendment does not permit her to engage in criminal conduct."

This makes no sense at all. This is the caliber of US Attorneys we have?

The apology is one thing, a political, if ugly thing. What bugs the heck out of me is the Bush administration pursuing charges. They should have just ejected her from the proceedings.

It appears that they want to make an example of her - for the sake of a bunch of murderous commies and their cheap crap.

Agreed. I just can't understand it.

If she is jailed, the "BUSH 2004" sticker comes off the back of my car!

When I was a Bush supporter, I thought he was just tin eared and blindsided on some issues. But of late, I think he is either surrounded by yes men who dare not speak the truth, or just an idiot who truly doesn't have a clue.

Sorry, lady, no analogy there. She spoke out of turn, but when lives and human organs are at stake.

Yesterday Rosa Parks was pardoned after 50 years. Hopefully it won't take 50 years to realize that this new american hero had every right to the floor, rather than a fancy pants, silk-suited, thug. God bless her Hu and cry. Gotti had nice threads, too. I would have yelled at the president had he shook his hand at the W H as well.

From every mountain side, let freedom ring.

Her only crime was protesting the oppression committed by a murderous dictator. SHAME ON PRESIDENT BUSH for his apology to Hu and shame on his administration for prosecuting this brave woman on a trumped up charge! She only spoke her mind in a free country. This isn't a crime and shouldn't be one!

And so goes every semblance of American ideals -- more evidence of the traitorous corruption of the federal government and the demonic infestation in Washington, DC.

Millions of criminals marching through the streets demanding rights, and we arrest Wenyi Wang for telling the truth in public?

Incredible.

I understand your feelings about this. But give President Bush a chance. He could pardon her if she is convicted! Imagine what a powerful message that would send to the world about his commitment to freedom and human rights! I think it would be the perfect response.

Free Wenyi Wang!

Also that was a stupid comment from Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela George. ""She was yelling at the president," George said. "You can't walk into a theater and yell 'Fire!'" What if there IS a fire? In this case, China is killing people because they choose to belong to a peaceful religious group. Ms. Wang cried the alarm.

What ever happened to "Mr. Gorbachev, TEAR DOWN THAT WALL".....

I used to think Bush had some balls.....how wrong was I....apologizing for someone exercising the most basic of American Liberties to a friggin' communist dictator. What has this country come to...do we have no principles?

Ronald Reagan must be spinning in his grave

You probably don't know the facts of how people died of the "Falun Gong". They teach people to cut stomach instead of going to hospitals for diseases. This is a stupid organization, especially being exploited for political purposes. Of course such news are screened by your media. I don't think you actually care about the human rights or democracy of China. Most people here just view Chinese as devils. Please stop using fake reasons like human rights or democracy, etc. Americans do everything under those glorious flags.

On the contrary Mr. West11...you read me as way too shallow....I do care about democracy, human rights, and religious freedom abroad. I dislike dealing with regimes that persecute based on faith, no matter where they are (given recent developments in Afghanistan) and no matter how odd the religion they persecute may be.

Some religious groups are kinda kooky....but you don't conduct a government purge against them. We don't conduct purges against snake handling Pentecostal Holiness churches, or Westboro Baptist types because they break laws....we fine them, cite them, and let ACLU lawyers take their cases to the supreme court...that's the American way...(that was slightly sarcastic, because I'm assuming you to be as shallow as you did me, and therefore you probably won't get the joke).

Something about my conscience has trouble stomaching watching the President of the United States, an office that under men like Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Reagan was synonymous with "Leader of the Free World" bend over and apoligize for two of the very Freedoms that gives this country the moral authority to be called that name: the Free Exercise of Religion (no matter how odd) and the Freedom to speak; even if to the President and the Dictator he's kowtowing to.
