Good News on FairTax
Town Hall . Com ^ | 4/13/06 | Herman Cain

of good news is that support is growing for complete replacement of the tax code with a national consumption tax. More and more taxpayers are demanding action from their representatives in Congress, and their representatives are listening.

Just one year ago, there were 33 sponsors and co-sponsors of HR 25, The FairTax Act, in the U.S. House. Now there are 53 supporters, and new co-sponsors are joining every month. In the Senate, Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) was the lone sponsor of the FairTax Act, S 25, one year ago. Senators Tom Coburn (R-OK) and John Cornyn (R-TX) now join Senator Chambliss as co-sponsors. The word is spreading about the overwhelming benefits to our economy and our wallets when we replace the nine-million-word tax code mess with the fair and simple FairTax.

In view of his preposterous "reasoning" Willie Tee can hardly call a tax refund a tax refund. By George, I've got it ... it's wealth redistribution!!!

Very cleverly as the government by collusion with Congress and lobbyists clearly does.

It's been so many years since I've had a "two page document" to file for income taxes that I can hardly dismember ... 1915???

It doesn't, but you seem unable to understand the bill so I won't attempt to explain it to you.

Ask Looey.

Oh but they do!!! Both give money paid as taxes back to the taxpayer.

Is that too convoluted an idea for you to grasp???

And there can be no means testing, political manipulation etc as you suggest. The concept of poveeerty level is used throughout many government programs.

see sect 303 of the HR 25 bill, it clearly shows that the Soc Security payments will be indexed up for changes caused by Fair Tax inclusion, that is not cutting spending but rather increasing spending on our largest and fastest growing program.

I already posted the part where the FairTax rate is calculated each year to give the Guv the money they need.

The amount of taxes you pay is shown on the second page of your return. It is a complete statement of all the federal income taxes you paid.

If that were all I filed (a naked 1040) it would be amazing. As I said, it's been many, many years since that was the case.

If that's all you file it's no wonder you think the income tax is grand (provide you ignore all the rest of the downside involved with it).

Gee ... really??? To get there however one must wade through many, many other forms and schedules as well.

Perhaps you doin't but I thought you were a Schedule C guy. Or perhaps a K-1 guy.

Maybe you just evade, eh?

More of your socialist-speak, Willie Tee.

It's far better to replace the income tax and all its hassles and taxpayer-munching with a tax system that truly helps our economy AND its taxpayers - the FairTax.

Do you have some valid point or are we just to go through a repeat of the lilliness that Looey has long since stopped with?

Apparently you never read any of his nonsense and wish to repeat it.

As surely you know Robbie - it's not all on your check stub. Some is, indeed, hidden (embedded) in business taxes that get passed on the consumer as higher prices due solely to the tax system.

The K-1 rolls onto the 1040 as a single line item. It took me less than two hours to do my personal taxes using Turbo Tax. My accountant charges less than $500 for our corporate returns, no big deal.

The point though was the amount of income tax you paid last year is NOT HIDDEN but easily accessible in one line of a tax form.

My point exactly.

You haven't made a point because your question about taxing used food, fuel and is illogical, irrational and ridiculous as there is no such thing as used food, fuel or legal advice! You also ignored the point I made that necessities such as food and transportation will not be taxed as people will have tax payments on necessities, that include food and fuel (transportation), up to the poverty level returned to them in the form of a prebate.

Does everyone pay the same amount of income tax? Do they consume the same amount of taxable stuff under the FairTax?

Does everyone pay the same tax rate; yes if they're in the same income tax bracket. Do they pay the same FairTax rate on taxable items; certainly.

So you see they are clearly totally the same. the only difference is the number of dollars involved for each person (whether income tax or FairTax)
