A question to all Bushbabes: Does anyone know why GWH Bush choose to live in such an regular home? Surely, with the Bush money they could have lived in a more exclusive home. Did Prescott Bush keep tight reins on the family money? Was GWH determined to make his own money and not be beholden to dad?
Also, does anyone know what kind of house GWB and Laura lived in before he became governor? Has the ranch in Midland been their primary home since marriage?

After Bush 41 graduated from Yale, he packed up Barbara (and 2 year old George W) and moved to Texas. Determined to 'make it on his own', he refused to take any money from his family! In fact, when he and Bar arrived in Odessa (their first home in Texas), they lived in a run-down apartment (of sorts) and ended up sharing bathroom facilities with prostitutes (a mother and her daughter).
Bush 43 approached his finances in a manner similar to his father. He and Laura lived a typical middle class life until he earned his millions with the Texas Rangers. It wasn't until he decided to run for President that he and Laura purchased 'the ranch' and decided to build their dream home -- They wanted a refuge from what they knew would be a brutal campaign!
Real men don't live off their parents.
