We'll have to agree to disagree :)

I guess I'm a naive idealist. I still believe that every problem has s solution. Sometimes you can't see it and sometimes you can. Sometimes the solution is easy, and sometimes impossibly hard to accept. Sometimes the solution is to just hold your head high and go down with the ship because there is nothing else you can do except put it in God's hands. That is just life. Would you die for your ideals and beliefs?

As for what we were talking about earlier, yes there is a solution. You fight. You refuse to accept the situation dealt to you. You do not blindly accept. The solution is that you try.

That's not a solution, that's a creed.

A solution, by definition, solves the problem. You are suggesting that what I'll term "ways to cope with the problem" are "solutions" TO the problem.

They're not.

Actually, if you look back to my original point, in post # 99, you'll see that rather than disagreeing with me, you are underscoring my original position, namely [from that post],

So how do we, the American people fix this?

We don't.

We can't.

We endure it.

So, we're back to square one, except that this time, you agree with me! :)

Nope, not a joke as far as I know. I saw the pic in another thread in the Breaking News area here.

Lou Dobbs was on and the female reporter Maria something or another was yelling at him calling him a Racist.

Was that Maria Buttaroma, from CNBC?

Loss of power and all that elected officials understand. The GOP believes that they can govern any way they want and then just say "you don't want a democrat to win do you?" to get you to fall in line in November.

Bingo. They really do believe that they OWN our votes. There is no shortage of footsoldiers out and about -- even here -- taunting, "You gonna elect Hillary?" any time anyone even talks about holding their feet to the fire.

And just yesterday, Arlen Lord Specter came right out and said that they were going to give us two weeks to "cool off" and then jam this sucker right down our throats.

There is a LOT of money that has spoken -- there are VERY powerful interestes who will NOT settle for anything less than the full treatment, and they have NO intention of backing down.

And, thanks to OUR past performance -- our willingness to take an incredible amount of abuse, and then, on election day, hold our noses and vote "R" -- they are confident that they CAN do anything they want. Our mere votes are -- to their way of thinking -- the least of their problems.

I am not optimistic at this point. I really do believe tht the fix is in. I think that we stand about as much chance as Terri Schindler did. Like her, we'll get lots of hand-wringing, lots of "attention", lots of "effort" -- but in the end, she died, didn't she. And in the end, we are gonna have a hundred million Mexican "citizens" taking over our country.

But, the guys calling the shots will make out OK. The employers will have their cheap labor, the politicians will have all those new voters to pander to -- by throwing OUR money at them -- and it'll be business as usual, except for Spanish being the predominant language in our third-world nation.

No on is advocating voting for a democrat but many are going for a third party. Sure a democrat will probably get elected and would be slightly worse

I'm not so sure about that.

If J F'n Kerry had won, the Republican legislature would have fought him tooth and nail, instead of handing over the goods like they do with our "conservative" President.

Sad, isn't it.

If you want real change, everyone who is organizing these counter-rallies is going about it all wrong. Someone should organize a few thousand Americans to penetrate the sovereign border of Mexico. Then the media can get a good close look at the reaction of the Mexican government....Then no matter Congress does will pale in comparison and be more palatable....

Excellent report from Iowa. Truly proving that "this is a border state problem" is really hiding one's head in the sand.

Simple solution to illegal immigration (a golden rule of immigration, so to speak): If you are an illegal immigrant, you can have the exact same rights an American would have in your home country. That is, NO free speech, no right of property ownership, and no right to refuse to assimilate.

It's really sad out here on the streets of America. I was almost afraid of displaying MY AMERICAN flag until my anger took over and I proudly display it now.

So if we wave a magic wand and make these 12 million illegal immigrants citizens, it will be required to pay them minimum wage, right? Jeez, we're gonna need more cheap labor!

Check this out JP about some of the results in this country from the last amnesty.

A lack of detention space has allowed several terrorists who had no legal right to be in the country to be released into the country. For example, Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center Attack, did not have a visa to enter the country, but he applied for asylum when he arrived at JFK airport and because of a lack of detention space he was paroled into the country.

Past amnesties for illegal aliens have facilitated terrorism. Mahmud Abouhalima, a leader of the 1993 Trade Center bombing, was legalized as a seasonal agricultural worker as part of the 1986 amnesty. Only after he was legalized was he able to travel outside of the country, including several trips to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, where he received the terrorist training he used in the bombing.

There are two things that will sway the GOP and Bush to start acting sensibly on this matter -

(1)withhold money from the RNC and tell them why
(2)tell the RNC and individual senators that you will vote for a third party in the general election even if it leads to the election of a Democrat

I included both of those items in an email to Ken Mehlman. Not like I have a lot of money to withhold, but it gives me a small feeling of power :)

Sure a democrat will probably get elected and would be slightly worse, but the GOP would get the message that Democrat-Lite Republicans will no longer be elected in conservative states.

Slightly worse? Perhaps if you were standing on Mars it might appear slightly worse. :-)

If a Republican Senator refuses to act conservative enough you want to elect a socialist? Like that makes any sense. This will only foster RINOs in the following elections. You can't force him to the hard right. You don't have the votes. He answers to all his constituents.

The battlefield is in the mushy middle. The solution is not to fruitlessly try to force Congress to the hard right. The solution is to recruit real conservatives who can speak and persuade the mushy middle that the hard right is actually the middle.

So who is responsible for checking documents at those rallies? Let's contact them!

Who is not doing their jobs?

INS? DHS? FBI? Police?

After reading your latest post, I find myself rethinking my position and you are absolutely correct. My solution is my creed. We'll agree to agree on this one. You have taught me something new and made me open up and think a little bit more. Thank you. See? You can learn something new every day :)

If a Republican Senator refuses to act conservative enough you want to elect a socialist? Like that makes any sense.

The two biggest advances for conservatism in the last 50 years were predicated by conservative voters rejecting the election of Democrat-Lite Republicans.

Conservatives rejected Ford in 1976 and it cleared the way for Reagan in 1980. Did the GOP respond by moving more to the left like your post predicted or did it properly realize it's folly and move back to the right?

Conservatives rejected George HW Bush in 1992 and it led to take over of the House in 1994 - after 40 years of being in the minority. Again, did the GOP move more to the left after 1992 or did it come to it's senses and move back to the right?

Sometimes you have to take one step back to take 10 forward. Democrat-Lite Republicans are clogging up the way and preventing conservative Republicans from entering the fray. Get rid of the Democrat-Lite Republicans in CONSERVATIVE states and the
