Couric Helps Flush CBS Down Toilet
Newsmax ^ | April 5, 2006

Katie Couric's move from the "Today" show to "The CBS Evening News" brings a "journalist" long known for a distinct liberal bias into the anchor chair once occupied by the revered Walter Cronkite.

"Since becoming co-host of NBC's ‘Today' in April 1991, Katie Couric has often used her perch to salute her liberal heroes (including Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter) or complain about ‘right-wing conservatives,'" notes the Media Research Center, a media watchdog group.

Here are some other examples of Couric's bias – and bloopers:

It must have been a Freudian slip when Couric said last year that Saddam Hussein had "hopefully" escaped to Syria.

She later claimed that the capture of Saddam was only symbolic.

Speaking again about the mass murderer, she said: "No matter how deplorable Saddam Hussein was considered, he was the ultimate referee who kept the Sunnis and the Shiites apart from killing each other."

Couric promoted a defense fund for notorious child killer Andrea Yates.

Discussing Time magazine's Person of the Year issue, which honored the American soldier, she told editor Jim Kelly: "Tell me why you all decided to honor the American soldier? Wondering why there's no woman on the cover, too?" Kelly pointed to the cover and said: "This is a woman." Couric: "Oh, there you go, oh sorry ... I couldn't tell because of her helmet."

Talking about the 35-hour work week mandated by the French government, Couric told viewers: "So great that young mother being able to come home at three every day and spend that time with her child. Isn't that nice? The French, they've got it right, don't they?"

Colonic or Crapkite, what's the difference? The former is a pimple on the festering ass that is our current liberal pop-culture. The other is a crusty old bastard of a creep who has yet to pay for his Vietnam-era subversion.

(If only I could say what I REALLY think)

This might actually be a good move for CBS, considering their only real competition is NBC and ABC. There are other news venues out there, but only the 3 traditional networks can reach the great unwashed who don't have cable.

Katie Couric could pull some viewers from NBC, and retain the existing CBS audience. So, as long as those two are competing in a 3-way race with ABC, and the real challenge is minimize the long-range historical trend down, it would be hard to blame Katie Couric for a complete collapse of CBS News.

Yes, CBS jumped the shark with Rather and Mapes. That was their swan song. Little Katie Koran is just a flapping little Marixist who will only attract liberal kool-air drinkers who want to listen to her anti-American swill.

I can't imagine who gets their news from the "broadcast networks" anymore except for shut-ins who can't afford computers and cable TV and the elderly who just don't know any better.

The average age of the broadcast news viewer is just over sixty. The average CBS Evening News viewer is even a little older.

One wonders how well "perky" will play with this crowd...

Wishful thinking on cBS's part. She'll not pull them out of the sh*tter...'cause she's nothing but just another piece of all the turds out there from the left.

No one can save these traditional news programs. Their viewership has been sinking for years. My wife and I occasionally watch, and most of their commercials are for stuff for seniors. In other words, once the current bunch of grandmas and grandpas pass, their viewership will be extinct.

A very close friend of mine is acquainted with Couric and says she's, well, rather course. I wasn't surprised to hear that, as her on-camera persona/veneer is so thin and so desperately plastered on.

Can anyone corroborate my friend's observation?

Years ago Curic had a short brown curly hairdo, and a cute smile that named her "perky Katy Curic
Her fake look now has lost that look entirely! The fake hair, face lifts And thiness has turned her in to a big phoney! They just don't get it that the liberal networks are over! She is toast!.

As much money as they are investing in her, c-bs will give her more time then that. The big kahuna that made the decision to expend that much will stand by her insisting it will only take a little more time before America falls in love with little katie.
Taking c-bs down and watch add revenues fall after a very short time. Never to rebound.
I can see her collegues at other stations saying the mean spirited conservatives vever gave her a fair chance.
Can't wait to see her interviewing conservatives or republicans with a scowl on her face then turn around with any lib and smile like schoolgirl talking to paul McCartney.

Also, back in that day we believed newsmen were honest and we believed that Walter spoke the truth.

Thankfully, we know better now.

At least WE do, not sure about the average viewer though.

What a dumbass. This could be really funny to follow.

I never watch the late once great MSM network news...how funny...I didn't know the commercials are all geared toward the elderly. Great that you noticed that. LOL

Kinda like the silent movies...when the talkies hit, they were now only in history along with many of the silent movie stars.

Wonder what garbage they come up with to replace those slots?
