Poll after poll shows a substantial majority oppose amnesty, guest-worker programs, open borders, drivers' licenses for illegals, etc..........but politicians care more about courting Hispanic votes. Why do you think politicians care more about about courting the Hispanic vote on this issue? Because despite your reality, most Americans don't see illegals as a voting issue. It really isn't an issue to the vast majority of Americans, but it is to Hispanic voters.

What a profound observation! Special interest groups care more about legislation that most directly impacts them than do others!
I would dispute your dismissal of the notion that immigration reform isn't a voting issue for "most Americans." When 70% in recent polls say that immigration is either a "serious" or "very serious" problem (before the ehtnic demonstrations, which no doubt have hurt their cause with voters), it certainly has become a "voting issue" for the vast majority of Americans.
