I love how that word has evolved over the years.
Here's the original meaning (from Wikipedia):
The Reconquista (Reconquest) refers to the reestablishment of Christian rather than Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula, taking place between 718 and 1492.
The Portuguese Reconquista culminated in 1249 with the subjugation of Algarve by Afonso III. In Spain, the process was completed 250 years later on January 2, 1492 when Boabdil of Granada surrendered the remnants of the last Moorish stronghold Granada, to Ferdinand and Isabella, Los Reyes Católicos ("The Catholic Kings"). This united most of modern Spain under their rule, excluding Navarre, which remained separate until 1512.
I guess the Reconquista was good, heroic and justifiable when Christians reclaimed their lands by throwing Muslims out of Europe, but bad now.

Yes, in Spain it involved centuries of fierce warfare. Here it involves going to sleep and not minding our border.
I love El Salvador but that does not mean that I want millions more of them to come here. Mexicans too cannot expect to see a welcome mat when millions come to promote Mexico and continue to be Mexican.
I say make it a real border and cut the flood to a trickle.
The Spanish became the strongest country of the World from 1492 to 1588 due to the competitiveness learned during the reconquest. Mexico is weak and only further weakening the United States by providing more votes for unworkable socialism.
They also threw the Jews out too. The Inquisition got going after that.
