“007 “may” fight deportation”

“Another three terrorists to dodge deportation by using Human Rights Act to stay in Britain

Fanatics will claim they could face ill-treatment in their homelands

Trio are among dozens of dangerous fundamentalists due to be released”

By CHRIS GREENWOOD and SAM GREENHILL

SNIPPET: “Those likely to fight deportation on their release include internet expert Younes Tsouli, 28, who ran websites with instructions on how to make suicide vests.

The Al Qaeda supporter faces being sent back to Morocco but instability in the country means he could use the Human Rights Act to argue he would be in danger.

‘Not only is a convicted terrorist permitted to stay in Britain indefinitely, but before we have turned around he will be granted asylum’

Wahbi Mohammed, 28, the brother of failed July 21 suicide bomber Ramzi Mohammed, could be released within months after winning an appeal to shorten his sentence.

He faces deportation to Somalia but could oppose the bid on the grounds that he could be ill-treated in the war-torn country.

Ismail Abdurahman, 28, was released from prison several weeks ago after just three years behind bars for helping the July 21 bombers in 2005.

He is now staying at a bail hostel after winning an appeal against a bid to send him to Somalia. The Government said it was ‘extremely disappointed’ with the decision.”

“Convicted terrorists released this week ahead of Olympics

Two convicted terrorists, including one involved in the “liquids” plot to blow up trans-Atlantic passenger jets, will be back on the streets this week after being released from prison.”

By Tom Whitehead, Security Editor7:00 AM GMT 19 Mar 2012

SNIPPET: “In a separate case, Tariq Al-Daour, a former law student, will also be released have served half his time.

He was jailed for ten years in 2007 after inciting terrorism against non-Muslims over the internet.

His trail heard he had close links with al Qaeda in Iraq and he, along with two others, were the first men to be convicted of inciting murder over in the internet.

At one point, a chat room set up by co-accused Younes Tsouli, attracted a message from a purported group of 45 doctors who wanted to use car bombs and grenade rockets to launch attacks in the US.”

“The world’s most wanted cyber-jihadist”
By Gordon Corera
BBC News security correspondent

SNIPPET: “This meant that Tsouli had to continually set up new websites to host the material. This required money. And here he was helped by two other associates, also arrested in October 2005.

They were Waseem Mughal and Tariq Al-Daour. Al-Daour was the money man. On his computer drives police would find 37,000 credit card details, including security codes.

These had been stolen in phishing attacks or purchased in on-line forums where stolen information circulates. Innocent people who thought they were simply following a link to verify their account information were unwittingly helping the group fund their terrorist activities.

Police identified more than 2.5m euros worth of fraudulent transactions carried out by him. Another remarkable aspect of this case is that there is no evidence Tsouli and Al-Daour ever met in person. They were connected through cyberspace, as so many others were in the broader network.”

Uploaded by AtheistMediaDotCom on Feb 17, 2010
Aired February 15, 2010 on BBC Two (Episode 2/3) -

Video Description: “In the second part of this series, Peter Taylor investigates how young Muslims radicalised over the internet formed themselves into a terror network that spread across three continents. Aided and abetted by two young fanatics in Britain, these cells plotted major attacks in Europe and America - culminating in a plan to explode three enormous truck bombs which, it was claimed, would dwarf the London bombings of 7/7. ve adopted a faith that they believe compels them to stand apart from Britain and its values.”

HARD NATIONAL SECURITY CHOICES

“Peter Margulies on the Mehanna Briefing”
By Benjamin Wittes
Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM

SNIPPET: “Peter Margulies of Roger Williams School of Law writes in with the following thoughts on the First Circuit briefing in the Tarek Mehanna appeal:”

SNIPPET: “Tsouli was an expert in hacking and encryption. “Terrorist 007”’s ties to Al Qaeda were substantial. In one message, Tsouli informed TP that “AQ in Iraq… [wants] you guys to work on translating … their official on-line ebook.” Tsouli pleaded guilty in 2007 to inciting specific acts of terrorism and engaging in massive cyber fraud to finance his operation. In evidence the government introduced at Mehanna’s trial, Mehanna acknowledged that he knew Tsouli.

Evidence at Mehanna’s trial indicated that Mehanna also knew of Al Qaeda’s requests to TP and happily complied. The following e-mail message is at the heart of the government’s case. One of Mehanna’s associates at TP advised him that, “[T]he cloud people are asking us if we can translate this message from the al doctoor regarding curryland.” Need help in breaking the code? Al Qaeda’s media wing was called “As-Sahaab,” which in English is “the cloud.” Who’s “al doctoor”? That would be Dr. al-Zawahiri. (“Curryland” is Pakistan, in case you were wondering.) After learning of this request, Mehanna continued to work with TP administrators on contributions to the site. When asked by a TP associate for production ideas to package the video from “al doctoor,” Mehanna obliged.

There’s more: when an associate said that Mehanna had become part of Al Qaeda’s “media wing,” Mehanna left no doubt about his own aspirations: “[M]an, I don’t think we deserve that title, maybe if we are lucky we get to clean their toilets.” Mehanna also hoped his contributions would have an “impact” not merely on “bedroom mujahideen” who applauded violent jihad from the safety of suburbia, but on those who ultimately “made it” by going abroad to kill Americans.”
