Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., says he's not going to be deterred by the wave of demonstrations protesting his bill to crack down on illegal immigration.
Responding to a pro-illegal immigration demonstration in Milwaukee on Thursday, Sensenbrenner called the protest "impressive," but added: "Many have tried to confuse the difference between legal and illegal immigration."

I disagree. The employers continue to willfully break laws in hiring the illegals. The illegals continue to willfully break laws in accetping them - in hopes they'll be pardoned via amnesty - indeed they expect it.
The laws broken in illegally entering are only one set of criminal actions.
That aside, your connnotation is that you are willing to pardon certain lawbreaking in exchange for economic profits.

I did not propose anything. Nor did I blame the Republicans for the problem. I only went as far as to say this issue will cost the Repubs dearly.
You couldn't be more wrong and if you think embracing illegals is the answer, you're no patriot no matter where you live.
Chicken Little claimed the sky was falling and that we're all doomed. That's the other poster who wants illegals deported.
Furthermore, the main reason the government looks the other way on illegals is simple and right in front of you mug....ILLEGALS PROCREATE. They still embrace the idea of a 2 parent family.
If you expect the USA to survive the next 50 years, you need young men and women...to fight and work.

I realize you'd feel the same way if the illegals were Canadians...ie, caucasians of European descent.
I don't look at the illegal racially. I look at them as good people that simply want to have access to all the nice things we see on our flat-screen HDTVs.
I know a 19 year old Mexican illegal that is married and expecting a child with his legal Guatamalan wife. I realize that child will think of Mexico the way my parents thought of Italy and Germany...where my great grandparents came. His allegiance will be the good ol' USA.
This kid is so excited that Maryland just granted him an ID and weeks later and driver's learner permit.

The purpose of placing these two pictures side by side was to answer the question posed by the illegal immigrant mother, can we deport anchor babies?

In short the Elian Gonzales case with the denial of certiorari by the USSC set the immigration status of all children of legal and illegal immigrants.
Which is that they must by law remain with their biological parents...and that includes deportation!
Likewise, the future children of many of these protestors will feel the same way..
I think these demonstrations will prove there is indeed strength in numbers.
Back in the 60's if a couple of guys burned their draft cards, they were arrested. If a couple of hundred did it together, all that happened was...it made the 6 o'clock news.

We have people waiting to get in here legally. Those lines are backed up.
The bottom line is, people are sick of their taxes supporting these people.
If this is true, and I don't believe it is, to any extent that it's valid would have much to do with our legal climate. Certain minorities (including immigrants from the third world) are better protected in this society than others. We were thriving as a nation until the mid-1960s. What changed then? I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.
When you fail to favor your own, your own can lose their will to thrive. Our current crop of politicians has too much to lose from changing this imbalance. And so we suffer and wane, bolstering the notion that America "needs" immigration.
Don't jump to conclusions...I support the President 100%.

You suggest that because their extended families are a cheap airplane ticket away, they will not be so quick to embrace the idea of the USA being their home country. Fair enough.
This is an odd statement coming from a poster who chooses to ignore the fraud an deceit of illegal immigrants and the supporting components. Why would you be sick of some fraud and deceit but not all fraud and deceit?
I am not a one-issue, one-trick pony but ABORTION since 1973...and the ramifications of high taxation proving the need of a two-income family have done insurmountable damage to the American family and our society as a whole.
Those who have been on the receiving end of welfare for years are those that have given up hope for a better life.
I'm 60 in August. This country will not survive beyond 2050. There is absolutely no way given the present state we're in.

The boy belonged with his father. I have little use for Alan Keyes but he was absolutely right when he said, "If the boy's mother was in Havana does anyone doubt tha he would be on the first plane back ? Would anyone, anywhere support taking Elian from his mother ? So why are father's expendable ? Why does no one have any respect for a father's right to raise his son ?"
