Are the neocons losing it? Pat Buchanan

Are the neocons losing it?

William Kristol of the Weekly Standard now demands the firing of Donald Rumsfeld. William F. Buckley, whose National Review branded the anti-war right "unpatriotic conservatives" who "hate" America, now calls upon Bush for an "acknowledgement of defeat."

But it is a March 20 essay in the Wall Street Journal that suggests the neocons may be coming unhinged. Written by Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes.. calls on Bush to fire press secretary Scott McClellan, chief of staff Andy Card, political adviser Karl Rove, National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Treasury Secretary John Snow – and Vice President Richard Cheney.

"The trickiest issue is how to handle Karl Rove," says Barnes.

That Bush is in trouble is undeniable. But his people are not Bush's problem. His policies are. It is these policies, not his advisers, that have given us huge deficits, 12 million illegal aliens, a trade deficit running at $800 billion a year and a no-win war that is bleeding our country.

If Bush should follow Barnes' advice and throw his most loyal people to the wolves as a PR stunt, he will have earned their lasting contempt, and that of the country. For all will know he was scapegoating them for his own failures – failures that come of having listened to the neocons who are even now slipping out of camp, rehearsing alibis and blaming Bush for not heeding their brilliant advi

You know, if you have trouble responding, have some Schnapps and listen to the Horstwessellied a few times. That might help it all come back to you.

Pat's a bigger problem, in part because he takes Barnes so seriously, and in part because he's a friggin' loon with serious joooophobic tendencies...

I find it amazing that so many conservatives would parrot a CNN accusation to slander Buchanan. Those of you who believe this, kindly post some *proof* of his anti-semitism.

Which of the candidates in the 2000 Presidential Election plunged the furthest into insanity after losing to Bush?

I'd say it's Al Gore but Pat's slipstreaming.

What does Pat do when somebody says something he disagrees with and the AREN'T Jewish? Then what?"""

No, the question is, what do YOU do when Buchanan disagrees with a gentile? (Say, a gentile like Bush, whom Pat disagrees with in this colum, or a gentile like Fred Barnes or Condi Rice - whom Buchanan criticizes in this column) You continue to talk as if Pat is arguing with a Jewsih person. You continue to play the "antisemitism" card. It's easier to smear an articulate opponent than to actually engage and refute his arguments. Ask Jesse Jackson -- he pioneered the practice, only he uses the race card, while you use the antisemitism card.

Be careful CinnamonGirl, Buchanan has an entire deck of those cards.

JOOOOOOS is an internet term used to mock anti-Semites who like to blame everything on the Jews."""

No, it's a term used by smear artists to brand people they disagree with as antisemites. Jesse Jackson and Diane Waters do the same thing with their opponents - - while you call people you disagree with on the Iraq war, "antisemites", Jesse calls people he disagrees with, on almost anything, "racists." It's the same trick -- smear your opponent. Al Sharpton's also good at it.

I'm curious why think Free Republic is infested with Anti-semites.

Maybe you should go hunting for Jew haters somewhere else. You can always go over to DU and hunt Nazi's.

Or you can return to Europe, visit an old folks home, and continue the battle against Hitler there.

I'd like to discuss the USA and the 21st century.

Are you referring to me? I can't tell for sure.

If you are, I would urge you to be careful when constructing so large a straw man, it might topple and crush you.

I don't think Pat is anti-semetic, he's just nutty about race and ethnicity. All that right-wing multi-culturalism is just hard to advocate without sounding like a racist. We never should have let the Irish in. ;)

"You continue to talk as if Pat is arguing with a Jewsih person. You continue to play the "antisemitism" card. It's easier to smear an articulate opponent than to actually engage and refute his arguments."

This is easy... Jews are centered at the heart of almost EVERY problem pat bloviates about. I just did a Google search comprised of "Anti Semitic remarks by Pat Buchanan". Wow!

Are you denying that buchanan is an anti Semite? I think that the evidence that he is an anti Semite is voluminous, and spans decades. No less than William F. Buckley himself has written on the subject. He wrote an article that appeared in the National Review (no lib rag BTW), December 30, 1991, accusing buchanan of exactly this.

I do not have an on-line subscription to the archives of that publication, but I did find a link to a message by someone who lifted direct quotes from the article. Google has page after page of articles and quotes covering this very subject. Most comments come from Conservatives distancing themselves from this impostor.

I have provided the link to the post, and excerpts from the article.

http://www.nizkor.org/hweb/people/b/buchanan-pat/buckley-1991.html

William Buckley's essay in the National Review, In Search of Anti-Semitism, dated December 30, 1991.

In the article, Buckley concludes that Pat Buchanan was ... "a Gentile who said things about Jews that could not reasonably be interpreted as other than anti- Semitic in tone and in substance."

Buckley quoted TV comments regarding the Persian Gulf War in which Buchanan said, "'There are only two groups that are beating the drums for war in the Middle East - the Israeli Defense Ministry and its amen corner in the United States.'" Buckley called this "a massive inaccuracy, namely that 'only' two specified groups favored military action against Hussein."

Buckley also writes, "again on television, (Buchanan) came in with the wisecrack that Congress was 'Israeli- occupied' territory."

Buckley adds that Buchanan "pronounced the names of four important men who influence public policy, whom he identified with the hyper-bellicose wing of the anti-Saddam forces. They were. . . A.M. Rosenthal ... Richard Perk ... Charles Krauthammer ... and Henry Kissinger." Buckley says that the most conspicuous thing they have in common is that they are all Jewish.

Buckley continued, "Pat Buchanan went on to write that if we went to war, the fighting would be done by 'kids with names like McAllister, Murphy, Gonzales, and Leroy Brown.' There is no way to read that sentence without concluding that Pat Buchanan was suggesting that American Jews manage to avoid personal military exposure even while advancing military policies they (uniquely?) engender."

Buckley says that in the ensuing controversy, "Buchanan told a reporter from Time magazine, 'I don't retract a single word'."

Individually, Buckley says, these comments could possibly be defended, but, taken together, they present a clear pattern of anti-Semitism. The comments suggest that the Jewish lobby unduly influences American foreign policy and this can inflame resentment against Jews.

I was further concerned upon hearing about the bulletin in the news today that Buchanan's campaign manager had just resigned because he had been speaking to Aryan and militia groups. Once again, this could be defended by Buchanan by saying he didn't know anything about it. But the pattern speaks for itself. And why would these groups seek to support Pat Buchanan? Does he vocalize the opinions of these hate groups?

End of excerpt…

An article from 1991 - gee, only 15 years ago. At least you're not talking about WW II.

Wonder why you didn't post an article from 2000 or 1996?
NR was full of comments on Pats presidential campaigns.

As I've posted before, if Pat Buchanan was *really* antisemitic, he wouldn't have Jewish Friends, be employed by Jewish-American TV execs and Jewish-American Newspaper Editors, or debated on TV by Jewish-American Pundits.

I know you consider me a Nazilike member of the tribe, thus worthy of contempt, but I don't have the faintest idea what on earth you're obsessing about.

If that's your convoluted way of asking me my opinion of Pat and Jews, imo he's a Jewobsessive of the classic Joe Sobran varity, as I suspect are you. The fact that he's employed by Jewish TV execs, whatever that means, not withstanding.
