Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

If you pull the plug on this place a lot of folks are gonna go nuts, batty, insane even! You have an obligation to the mental health of all those who are addicted to this place. I see a class action lawsuit in the works already! ;)
"The 50th district (Duke Cunningham's old seat) has its primary election within 30 days. I've already gotten my ballot."
It's on April 11. If it was because of the 30/60 day rule, FreeRepublic would already have to be down.
Hey!! We can't go without Alfalfa!!
THANKS for the info on DC Chapter's site

Check out #437.
We could still have a discussion. Just change the names. Teve Torbes would agree with our plan.
I would think someone would come up with some new technology based on P2P like BitTorrent or even something like the old FidoNet/Echomail that would enable us to talk freely in a forum about politics. It's still not hard to download music and that's illegal.
Are you talking about Free Dominion?
Sssshhhh...That was...George (no-veto) Bush.
Make it so - and God be with us all. Let's roll, people...
I plead the 5th on the grounds that I may get banned.
How about the United States of America
The Land of the Free
I'll be damned if some nit wits in Congress are going to run me out of my country
This CFR Bill was started because members of Congress Couldn't follow the rules and they had to pass a bill to try and make themselves honest

Sorry for taking this out on you .. it's not you fault
That is the key. It also wouldn't hurt to setup the business end of it offshore.
Jim, you are correct. McCain-Feingold is wholly unconstitutional. I am sometimes stand in astonishment at how in this great land of ours, we have such slime as McCain, etal elected over and over. Are there many leaders that truly cherish the Constitution. Bush has done so many great things, but I am still puzzled at how he could sign into law such an abomination as McCain-Feingold. What part of "Congress shall make no law..." does this idiot not understand?
Jim, You are the modern day Paul Revere.
Thanks for posting this.
The enemy is within.
And must be in support of Shrillery's favorite Marxist, Machiavellian tyrannical globalist government.
So, what have you done about it?
