A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow -- Old Native American Prophecy

Dawn Rainbow

A rainbow only bounces back to you the color in the light.
You get something quite special when the circumstance is right.
An early morning shower when the sun had hardly shown,
Caused the rainbow to get dressed in haste, in colors not its own.

Full golden was the rainbow, with neon at the edge,
As the sun was rising sleepily from beyond its earthen ledge.
I had never seen a rainbow that was monochrome like that,
But I remember vividly just where I was and where it sat.

There was no gold to find down on the ground beneath the bow,
For all of it was utilized in putting forth the glow.
No doubt you think I’m daft to even say I saw the sight,
For no one else has ever seen a rainbow in dawn’s light.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Reflections

- God sets a mirror down for us,
To bounce back sunny days,
He does it when the rain has passed,
To help us see the rays.

The reflection that we see in it,
Is not of hair and skin.
What we see is an image of,
The gloried state we’re in.

Light pink, and brighter orange,
And yellow brighter still.
I sit and look at glory’s frame,
Upon my favorite hill.

The others call it rainbow,
But I know what it is,
A magic mirror in the sky,
That lets us know we’re His.

The body that we occupy down here,
Is nothing like its start,
For one, the most attractive thing,
Has always been the heart.

God looks into our heart and then,
Just for His own amusement.
He gives a glimpse of what He sees,
And laughs at our confusement.

“That doesn’t look at all like me!”
I hear your protests start,
But when you look at other folks,
How can you see their heart?

If you admit there’s beauty,
Reflecting from some source,
Just think how glorious it will be,
When He’s revealed full force.

And you and I are with Him,
And joining in the glow.
Next time you see a rainbow,
I thought you ought to know.

thanks meg. When I was finishing this up in the wee hours I thought of you & your great floral pix.. wondering if you would locate a rainbow above a flower field.. etc. Guess with photo editing skills now we can do a lot of things. my pledge was a combo pix that I assembled, as were many of the graphics. I did NOT alter the rainbow photos however.

Hi Dolly. What a lovely thread. Love the border and all the beautiful pictures. Also, your collage with Oliver is so sweet, a wonderful tribute and very nice how you tied it into Raindow bridge. Busy work day....BBL! ((((dolly))))

Thanks dutchess. The thread was becoming a monster. I was doing Rainbow & bridge... so had rainbows, bridges & rainbow bridge. Decided to do the bridges in a sep thread (an it promises to be LARGE - but fun) ...later

for today just decided to combine & minimize both rainbow & rainbow bridge. It is hard for me to go smaller/simpler.

I had fun doing o's collage. I had so many pix to chose from, it was difficult. I actually have dozens of collages of him.. but made this one new with Rainbow bridge inspiration. I have a lot of pix of him on bridges.. just included the one of us together on a bridge overlooking the cuyahoga river in Cuyahoga Falls, OH

"...that God feels/knows the pain of our physical, emotional, spiritual journey moreso than ANY mortal, yet we talk with mortals all the time but often not with God regarding them."

Bears repeating!

Learning to talk to Him, listen for Him, see Him, isn't as hard as it might seem, and is such a JOY!

I am about 4 hours from Niagara Falls(time depends on border crossing/complications). I prefer the Canada side. LOVE IT IN WINTER.. ice crystals on plants, buildings etc for thousands of feet.. At night the colors of floodlights on falls is great. Summer is nice too but more crowded. The gardens are a MUST SEE. When you go there check out my favorite restaurant.. Franks Tomato Pie... they have good food & a wonderful Sunday Morning brunch... The Niagara peninsula has a lot to offer.. the Shaw festival in summer (all season); the wineries, great biking trails, kayaking on Niagara river, fishing (for those that do that).. I love Ontario in general..If you get there let me know .. I can perhaps work out a trip also... OR maybe if Rus gets together a Buffalo Freeper social we could combine? I have an uncle & cousin in Dunkirk & so would stay there

Excellent Dolly Thanks! If things are a go this summer, I will certainly love to meet up. That would be a blast. :)

I'm thinking now, maybe make it a very early fall trip, since you said it gets crowded. Right before my son joins the Coast Guard, I'd love for us to take a trip. Sounds wonderful. I'd love to see beautiful gardens and I'll be in the know of great place to eat. :)

Robin's Rainbow

When my daughter was very young, one night she was saying her prayers. She paused and asked me, "Mom, if I pray for a rainbow, will God make one?" Well, what could I say? Anyone who can part the Red Sea, can make a rainbow for a six-year-old. I hem-hawed around for a few seconds, and then told her that, yes, if she believed... Then I thought, "What have I done? What if there's no rainbow tomorrow? What if there are no clouds? And if there are, what if it doesn't rain? I've hurt the faith of this little one!" The next day, there was not a cloud in the sky. Of course. Great. Now Mom's a liar. It was Memorial Day, so we went to the cemetery to pay our respects. We were walking around, and I had hoped she had forgotten about the rainbow prayer. Apparently she had, but I had not. The scriptures say that if you believe, basically God gives you what you pray for, if you ask in Jesus' (Yeshua's) name. I was having some worrisome thoughts as we walked through that cemetery. Then we came upon a section which was being watered with sprinklers. Lo and behold, there was Robin's rainbow, just as plain as day. It was almost as if God was saying, "See? Oh you of little faith. I can make it happen, even when it seems impossible." I wish the story ended there, but it doesn't. I saw it, but I didn't see it for what it was, until later. I didn't recognize it, to show her that God had answered her prayer. Her little simple prayer was a huge lesson for me. He answered her prayer, as it turns out, for me. How many times have I missed the blessing? Now I look for answered prayers in whatever form they might take. I guessed I would forgive her for the oatmeal dumped between the wall and the refrigerator. And telling the neighbor she had a "mold" on her face. And, saying, "huh, uh... no Mom, this is what you said," when I was trying to be a little too polite in conversation. And wallpapering the hall with stick-on feminine napkins... Sigh... I miss those days. By Dianne James Date: 26 February 2006

I thought of you yesterday, MEG- I saw the first robin of spring.
