A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow -- Old Native American Prophecy
Dawn Rainbow
A rainbow only bounces back to you the color in the light. You get something quite special when the circumstance is right. An early morning shower when the sun had hardly shown, Caused the rainbow to get dressed in haste, in colors not its own.
Full golden was the rainbow, with neon at the edge, As the sun was rising sleepily from beyond its earthen ledge. I had never seen a rainbow that was monochrome like that, But I remember vividly just where I was and where it sat.
There was no gold to find down on the ground beneath the bow, For all of it was utilized in putting forth the glow. No doubt you think Im daft to even say I saw the sight, For no one else has ever seen a rainbow in dawns light.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The Rainbow Bridge
Reflections
- God sets a mirror down for us, To bounce back sunny days, He does it when the rain has passed, To help us see the rays.
The reflection that we see in it, Is not of hair and skin. What we see is an image of, The gloried state were in.
Light pink, and brighter orange, And yellow brighter still. I sit and look at glorys frame, Upon my favorite hill.
The others call it rainbow, But I know what it is, A magic mirror in the sky, That lets us know were His.
The body that we occupy down here, Is nothing like its start, For one, the most attractive thing, Has always been the heart.
God looks into our heart and then, Just for His own amusement. He gives a glimpse of what He sees, And laughs at our confusement.
That doesnt look at all like me! I hear your protests start, But when you look at other folks, How can you see their heart?
If you admit theres beauty, Reflecting from some source, Just think how glorious it will be, When Hes revealed full force.
And you and I are with Him, And joining in the glow. Next time you see a rainbow, I thought you ought to know.

Aww, that's so cute, Victoria. Where did you get those wings when you were a kid? ;-)
To: Alberta's Child
LOL, hi AC! Where have you been?
To: Victoria Delsoul
It's been a hectic week. Four hockey games in five nights (because of the way our playoff schedule worked out), and I'm about to lose my mind. LOL.
Next game isn't until April 2nd, though -- so things should settle down soon!

Did you get any rough weather in conjunction w/typhoon that hit Australia? ,,, hi Dolly!! New Zealand wasn't hit by any adverse weather when northern Queensland took the cyclone but today (Friday) we're getting alerts on the radio that a tropical cyclone west of New Caledonia will probably be on us Sunday/Monday. If it runs short, all well and good. I'm putting away anything in the yard that may be able to fly.

,,, brilliant shots in post #69 Dolly.

well, good luck weathering the storms. the past couple seasons have been harsh on both of our corners of the world! thanks re: the Niagara pix. Actually those were among the last I took with my good Nikon & it was already NOT working well.. the shots are not focusing correctly.. both the inside at Jimmy Mac's in Buffalo & the one's at Niagara were a disappointment.
The camera would be a minimum of 375 to look at/repair. Parts/shipping extra. So it joins the others I have sitting on a shelf. My current fuji film does a really good job with photos and I haven't even begun to learn the bells & whistles involved.
notice how much sharper this one is from a few weeks ago at our zoo

That is a fav verse of mine carbine.. I have it in a section of scripture to include on the landscape scenes I do with verse & post on Sunday for Lord's Day greetings.

Good monring.. you arrived as I left - didn't mean to ignore you. Thanks for stopping by & visiting with us!
To: snugs
Thanks for rainbow posts Eleanor. You arrived after I had left. Where were these pix taken? Was this with your old or your new camera?
I am really enjoying my Fuji Film. It is a couple years old but given to me by friend John who had two (he liked it so much). I am sure the newer models are smaller & more reasonable & better technology but so far I love the results I am getting.
got your latest email w/pix links. Going to try for next week(I think I have Wed)
To: JustAmy
That would be awesome! It is looking more and more likely we will be in CA for the picnic! Let's start planning to get together! Can't wait!

I decided to look a little more at Dolly's thread and found proud_yank's beautiful pic of Copper Harbor, MI. We live in Houghton, so visit C.H. regularly. So you're a former Tech student, huh? Hubby and I used to work at the MTU Library and that's where we met each other 20-something years ago. Anyway, glad you liked the area.
I looked at your profile page with the fabulous pictures of the old view of Houghton, and the Quincy Smelter, etc. Incidentally, this past summer, hubby and I toured the Canadian Rockies, including Jasper Park, which I see you've also been to. Nothing like those mountain hot springs, eh?

It is so good to find others who are or have been in your back yard. I have been surprised already by having many small world situations via FR...
I would go to the upper peninsula yearly if my "situation" was different..
To: proud_yank
Oh, I don't mind you asking. I'm not from Alberta, but I used to work up there and still do business there occasionally.
To: Alberta's Child
Oil & gas? Beautiful country here, but tough to get out too much on a grad student budget! Some pretty good music here too.
