Have you ever read the 1940 best seller, Oliver Wiswell, by Kenneth Roberts?
No, I haven't. Thanks for the recommendation. I will look for it. Revolutionary War history is so poorly understood by so many Americans these days - we tend to have learned as schoolkids that since we won, it must have been easy or foreordained. Nowdays, of course, the only thing that govt school students learn about that period of America's history is that the Signers were slave-owners - therefore bad men = next topic, please.
Snugs, will your UK TV and DVD system which uses PAL play an American NTSC DVD? Having been stationed in Germany while watching British Sky TV ten years ago, I found my American TV was not compatible, requiring me to buy another telly and VCR....
the book (Oliver Wiswell, for those who missed the earlier post) is priceless, at least in memory. I'm sure it was assigned in order to debunk the traditional heroic view of our founding fathers as heros. For me it had the effect of making me doubt the "conventional wisdom" of history without making me cynical about the traditions and truths of our own unique experience.
It's been probably 20 years since I've reread that book. I think it may be tiem to pull out my dog eared copy again.

I have often watched Biden and thought to myself that he acts so immature and cranky, and sometimes he acts like he is completely without thought on the Topic everyone else is on. He seems very aloof at times and gives me the impression that he wants to be President if he does not have to do anything hard to get there except to say "off the wall" hateful things about President Bush. He comes across as having a shoulder shrugger mentality. He is from such a small State and he sounds like such a loser, maybe they will replace Dirtbin from Illinois, a much more Populous State. He sounds like a nutty loser,but his state is many times the Population of Delaware.
We sure did dodge a bullet, we dodged a Howitzer Shell.......MOAB shell......LOL!

I think David Gregory in School was probably what the kids were climbing up with just their hands. He is really tall and Skinny and I could see him hanging on from the ceiling. ROTFLOL.

Back in the day when the only conservative voices to be heard were the Sunday Morning tokens, I used to wonder why George Will allowed Cokie, Sam and even David Brinkley to condescend to him in every show. I lost all respect for him, even while his written articles were basically supportive of Republican policies, because of his willingness not to "demand" equal time with Cokie and Sam, and now even Steffie. I had to conclude that he is/was not bothered by acting in such a subservient position every week, and because of that, not worthy of being listened to - not a man of real conservative principles.
Well, lets see the Woman is such an egoist and she has bought almost everything else in Show Biz. She is a super intelligent, driven Woman, who basically has nothing to do except her very repetitive shows,Magazines,etc that probably bore the Hell out of her. She would come at a bargain price because she does not need the Money, and may just do it for a few Million,and her ego which is so huge it is impossible to bottle up. The audience would be tremendous, and she would still have time for most everything else except what she is really in need of, Family Life. She is a nurturer who has nothing to nurture at home(Stedman, right!!) so she will be the World's MAMA. Perfect for Meet the Depressed Post Timmy when he goes off to Jail.
I hope this storm is heading east otherwise I will have to water all this week, and I do it by hand. We have been very dry for three weeks.

That is one of the reasons why I do not like Mr. Will. He does not mind being crapped on as long as he can say some of his pompous crap on Teevee once in a while. He thinks he gets them back by talking down to them,but they treat him for just what he is a suck up panderer for Publicity. I used to love Baseball, but having a wuss like him talk about it demeans the entire sport. He has a full head of hair the last I saw him, even with that stupid ball cap jammed down on it all the time.
Other than that, he's probably okay.
I think that is a very real possibility.
Snugs is this an issue? For some reason, and I'll check my manual to be sure, but I think I may be able to burn in PAL mode as well as NTSC. Let me know and I'll peruse the manual.
I checked the Weather Channel a few hours ago...and they said the rain is moving due east along I-20...through Alabama East...
So...if you are in that trajectory..maybe you will luck out!
