1st an honorable mention for a Freeper who should be in the top ten but got squeezed out due to the number of great posts. * YAYA123. Only one post today but it was awesome. #230 was a great dissection of the Chris Matthew's Sunday show with his DNC hyping panel that ends with THIS as the line. (I got up at 6 am for this???????)
10. BVW. Excellent historical analysis in Post 193. Well, this war seems like one closer to either the Dutch war versus Spain, The Eighty Year War or our own Indian Wars (250 years or so).
9. Kabar. Excellent data analysis at #344. It's not you. American casualties are trending down in Iraq as the Iraqis assume more responsibility for their own security. The MSM must now come up with a different hobby horse to attack Bush and the war.
8. Capn Trvth. #464 LIBERALS PANIC IN THE STREETS!! #Dick Cheney on FTN: #377 "I think Senator Kennedy reflects a pre 9/11 mentality." LOL!!! "Senator Kennedy's approach would be: "Pack your bags and go home." "I think Ted Kennedy has been wrong from the very beginning, he's the last man I would go to on Security policy. #354 FTN yes "All deadlines met and kept. 78% voter turnout, major progress in scurity front, Iraqis in lead, very succesfull over 100 batallions." Also 201, 213, 289, 307, 349 and 390.
7. Freedom Neocon. #251 35 HOURS 8 MINUTES FOR JACK BAUER AND 24!!A C-SPAN caller from London today was complaining about the American 'bully' attitude, and mentioned "what do we get, we get 24 a show where they torture at the drop of a hat... grab some wires off the wall and shock this guy until I get the information" I just had to say 'hell yeah' and broke out laughing... #386 Niiiice.... Chaney calls the daily polls "background noise" and says he ignores them. Also 26, 33, 36, 64, 131, 251, 303, 384, 402 and 504.
6. Beyond the Sea. #38 ...Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.... Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.
****
With these two.......... I am reminded of my main man, Thomas Sowell who recently said: There will never be a shortage of ignorant audacity #52. One guest on FOX and it's a democrat? I think FOX needs to get a new booker. Then again, thirty-five minutes of mud, dirt, lies, and ignorance might be a useful exposition. **** Huxley: The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth." Old Media lives these words. #293 Durbin says he will not rule out impeaching the president. I don't rule out authorizing straitjackets to all Democratic senators. Also, 38, 41, 45, 63, 281, 287, 293, 346, 369, 385, 411, 423, 426, 430, 457
5. Anita. #160 Here 's this sunday's Media Nuggets #195.Kristol or the MSM don't understand how Bush team works. Take for example how Tom Delay won in primary. Per MSM, he was facing a serious primary threat. There were no DeLay lawns signs anywhere while his opponents' were all over the place including the media. DeLay didn't make ANY campaign appearances, no bumper stickers, or anything of notice. He was partying in washington thrown by Susan Molinari & Bill Paxton (media even reported it). #313 It Would Only Be Considered A Blockbuster If It Hurt Bush-> Lorie Byrd on the media laziness about Iraq docs.Also. 3, 13, 17, 28, 32, 35, 53, 66, 86, 91, 93, 155, 235, 241, 260, 273, 286, 468, 472, 497, 516 and 530.
4. Seattle Conservative. #111 saw that he was one of the Republican bastids who voted NO on keeping 'hands-off' SS funds. Way'ta'go DICK!" For those who didn't see it, here's an article that eeevil posted on the ss funds: 53 Senators vote to raid the Social Security trust fund Yesterday, Senators Jim DeMint and Mike Crapo introduced an amendment to prevent the current Social Security Surplus from continuing to be spent. 53 Senators voted against it. After the vote, DeMint issued the following statement: #383 We need to find a way to start directing and steering the news, instead of letting the Antique Media set public opinion and try to steer us (e.g., we need to get off defense all the time and get on offense). I'm not exactly sure how, except perhaps to call them on it more (perhaps more letters to the editor, calls and email to the news shows) and getting after our Congresscritters, the WH and the RNC to get on board w the right messages and talking points (half the time the Pubbies let the Dims state lies as facts and don't call them on it - - Pubbies need to get off their arses and start doing some homework and getting the facts). #452 Chuck Hagel insisted on ABC that we have had a civil war in Iraq for the past half year. Is he really thinking about running for 2008?" I liked Hagel some years back, but the last few years it seems he needs to get back on his meds. I was curious about his voting record and donation record (any change due to who he was receiving money from). Didn't do any analysis, but in a quick review, it appears that he simply likes to be in front of a camera and is trying to be a McCain-lite 'renegade'. Someone from Nebraska may have addt'l info/know more about his 'change'. Donation record below. Here's what American Conservative Union says (last year they have is 2004) - - interesting that he dropped 15 points in 1 year #510 think it was Murtha (but may have been Turbin) that was whining on about there is absolutely no connection between Iraq and AQ, no WMD, blah, blah, blah. Apparently, he hasn't heard anything about the documents that have been released (one of our own FReepers, jveritas, is translating them!). Or, maybe he has heard and just chose to ignore it - - which is what they usually do - -ignore the facts and make up lies and try to present them as facts.
Released Saddam papers hint at links to Al-Qaeda Sunday Times ^ | March 19, 2006 | Sarah Baxter #521 Jerry Doyle was on the radio as I was driving home last. Some idiot called in and said he was a counselor and he thinks that the way the President has been acting (and obviously not thinking clearly)is because he got off the wagon. Jerry insiuated that he was nuts and said, we're not even going there. Can't believe how far some of these idiots will go. #671 Some of the Dims and MSM have already discounted the tapes for one ridiculous reason or another. As more and more tapes come out, it will be interesting to see how long they can continue to ignore them and/or discount them. It will also be interesting to see which bandwagon, so to speak, the Pubbie congresscritters decide to jump on. #1184 I think that may be true, and we can hope the mantra won't take hold. I think that some of them may also continue to push it for the following reasons. As we've discussed before, the one *plan* the Dims do have is to discredit Bush as much as they can, especially on Nat'l Security - -that's one of the reasons they came out against the Dubai deal. They know Americans have always supported and trusted the Prez and the Pubbies more than the Dims on Security matters and the Dims think that's the only way they can winalso, 30, 40, 49, 58, 73, 99, 130, 140, 156, 161, 202, 206, 239, 250, 265, 276, 409, 414, 422, 422, 427, 473, 493, 500, 517, 525, 531, 535, 539, 546, 555, 565, 569, 578, 584, 599, 601, 604, 610, 617, 618, 629, 677, 686, 677, 695, 114, 1164, 1185, 1187, 1188, 1189, 1191, 1192, 1195, 1196 and dozens more.

And for the top 3? Well you will just have to wait for that gentle lady asleep now in her bed in England and the ribbons.
I'm up listening to Drudge on the radio. He's talking about Katherine Harris and the movie, "The Last of The Mohicans," inspiring her.
It's wild out there.
;-)
And isn't it censure from the Senate because they cannot do anything about bringing up articles of impeachment? Think they have to get the House to take the first step and that is why the Libs are pressing so hard to take back the House and Senate in '06, BUT particularly the HOUSE. That is the DemonRAT '06 PLAN - that is all they have.
Correct on all counts.
Only the shadow knows what evil lurks in the halls (and coat rooms) of Congress AND their staffs, who I believe is probably so deeply embedded in the intrigue.
Dick Durbin this morning: "Chris, 96 senators have not been briefed on this program. Only 8 members of the senate know about it." This dork apparently doesn't know how many senators are in the senate. Since Bush authorized the National Security Agency shortly after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to eavesdrop on Americans suspected of communicating with al Qaeda members overseas, there have been two elections '02 & '04 subjecting about 66 senators to a vote and possible retirement. In those elections I can think of (there might be more) at least 17 senators that either retired or lost in one of the those two elections. Therefore, there are 100 current sitting senators and at least 17 former senators that were seated during this program, so using your logic of 'tense' accounting for the difference, his numbers would have to add to about 117... they do not. Although Durbin is a dork, he may not be technically wrong in what he said, except perhaps in tense. 1. Frank Murkowski of Alaska retired. |
I never got past 700, so I am not much help.
My sisters and I REFUSE to see that musical. We think it is tacky. We also refuse to have anything to do with that stupid Red Hat thing too. Glad you had a good time, but the show finally closed here in Indianapolis and I am grateful I won't have to hear the promos for it any more.
It's early make that 1200 "posts"
Boy do I feel that way today. Is it time to go to bed yet?
yes...it is time to go to bed.....
in about 15 hours or so....
;-)
The Eighty Years war was the Dutch fighting against Spain, during that war -- and not before -- did the Dutch decide to establish a Republic. The war ended in the treaties of Westphalia in 1648, which defined a republican sovereignity which was the basis -- and even in a way the initial document, I'd argue -- of our own American Republic.
The Treaty of Westphalia has been held in disregard and mocked by in the following eras by Communists, Nazis, Euro-wenies and Islamicists. So it must be good!
Mornin'. Long thread, eh?
Long thread + Early morning start=MNJohnnie's a dull boy.
Hmmm seems this Republic stuff isn't popular with all the various nasties in History. Should make us treasure it even more. :-)
Here's a recap of the Sunday Morning Talk Shows on Townhall.com:
Sunday talk show round-up
Mar 20, 2006
by Brian Phillips
Here's the part on Murtha:
Congressman John Murtha (D-PA)
Murtha charges that the president is trying to "paint" as if there is progress in Iraq in order to get out. Murtha sees a lack of electricity, clean water, and oil production as well as other problems. He doesnt see the progress the administration is talking about. Murtha says, "It is a civil war."
Murtha believes President Bush has made fundamental misjudgments. There was no threat to national security, we went in with too small a force, and the Coalition Provisional Authority wrongly disbanded the Iraqi army. Murtha called his vote for the war a "mistake."
He believes the world would be safer today if Saddam were still in power and being "kept under control" as was done during the Clinton administration. The US would destroy its credibility if it were to try to police the world, Murtha said.
