The only tattoo I'd ever seriously consider getting would be right on my forehead, and say : STFU That or, THIS SPACE RESERVED FOR YOUR LIPS on my rear.
To: MRMEAN
Tattoos are a fad right now. More popular than in recent decades. I think there's nothing wrong with getting kids used to that.

Investing in a chain of tattoo-removal clinics right about now would be a way to become filthy rich in about 10-15 years.

So she has one, and it's visible. Fine. But I don't need my four-year-old getting a step-by-step lesson in tattoo "art."

I say go for the STFU tat. That's something you can be proud of for the rest of your life. You'll never have to argue with someone again...just point to your forehead.

These are pre-school kids. The one child mentioned is four. If adults want to do this, I support it. If we're talking about exposing young kids to the idea, I think it's a poor idea.
Tatoos are something that should be weighed very heavily before it takes place. Children should not be indoctrinated into the idea. Tatoos will last a lifetime. Even those that are removed don't come all the way off.
I think this woman's proclivity to expose the young kids to this is wrong.

''I asked a few parents about how they'd feel about a teacher with tattoos on her arm, and they were fine with it," the 37-year-old Brookline resident says.
What a weak statement.

I think tattoos are nasty, but I would maybe grin and bear it if the teacher just happened to have them. But the whole walking them through the process nonsense is . . . nonsense. I'd go so far as, have the tattoos if you must, but cover them up, but actually, I'd just take my four-year-old out of there. I don't need some teacher with a proclivity for indoctrination anywhere near my preschool kid.

I've got a full-body tattoo.
It was done with invisible ink.
I'm thinking about having it removed.

But the whole walking them through the process nonsense is . . . nonsense. It's actually a pretty interesting process, and the time they spend teaching this they can take away from teaching socialist studies or advanced diversity.

I agree. I think a lot of folks who get tattoos crave attention. This gal probably falls into that category. She likely gets some kind of ego boost from showing off her tats to an audience. Unlike adults, though, none of the kids are likely to roll their eyes or snicker. It's perfect for her self-esteem. She gets the attention she wants with no risk of public scorn. Pathetic.

''I asked a few parents about how they'd feel about a teacher with tattoos on her arm, and they were fine with it," the 37-year-old Brookline resident says. Yeah, right. I'm sure some stressed out mother is going to take on a teacher who's with her kid alone for 9 hours a day...

"Let me get this straight: you want a tattoo of a butt on a butt and you want it on your butt?"
Won't be funny in print, but there was a standup comedian who had a routine about tatoos. "I saw one guy with a tattoo of a spider on his FACE. (pause) That's your FACE."

I was thinking I would become an audiologist and sell hearing aids.

I like Mike Tyson's facial tattoo. It's very considerate of him to let people who've never heard of him know that he's freaking nuts.
