Old Man Daley is presiding over a shrinking kingdom.

Cook, Kendall, Wayne and Cuyahoga amongst the biggest losers ... I'm sure there's a pattern here, but I wouldn't be stupid enough to voice my hypothesis in this PC world.

Cook County lost more people between 2000 and 2005 than any county in the nation

And yet is still gaining registered voters.

the only one to record a population loss during the 5-year period.

You beat me to it. I think you mean registered "Democratic" voters. And of course, don't forget the unregistered ones that still vote early and often. Again and again.

That actually would be theoretically possible - Say the Joneses and the Smiths move out (-4 adults, -4 children between them), and the Walkers, Browns, and Raymonds move in, all 3 of them are childless couples. That's 6 adults, 0 children. You've had a 25% decrease in population with a 50% increase in eligible voters.

Of course, this is Chicago, so even if that scenario occurred, I'd have to agree - you'd see a 150% increase in registered voters....

Thanks to abortion, the worship of the gay life styles, STDs which cripple reproduction, the tacit approval of the use of hard drugs and driving out the good people will reduce the population of most big Blue Cities.

Demographics is a vicious bitch the liberals have failed to consider in their agendas. Our grandchildren will be able to move back in these big Blue cities in about a decade and then control them in another decade.

In keeping with earlier discussions of other urban areas, and my own experiences living in Chicago/Cook County in the late 1990s, the phenomenon is one of DINKs and SINKs buying up all the new, expensive real estate in Chicago, while lower middle class families with children (black and white) flee for farther out suburbs. In the case of many blacks, they are leaving Chicago for Atlanta, Dallas and other points south.

The good news is that 1. Chicago will lose some of its most solid Democratic voters (blacks and white union members) 2. More schools will close, meaning (hopefully) smaller property tax reassessments and 3. Maybe the Archdiocese can sell off its empty Churches and put the money to better use.

It's too bad about Chicago. Always liked that city. When we were teenagers we'd travel down to Chicago, drive along windy Michigan Avenue and check out the females walking by. Especially those in dresses. That wind could sure blow and provide an afternoon of entertainment for a carload of teenage boys.

Chicago is still a great city. Its just that families with children have been leaving for 20-30 years and the numbers have only increased due to the demolition of housing projects and other urban renewal programs, etc.

Crook County is losing population. It won't make IL a red state anytime soon. IL's blue sea is spreading into the red zones of IL (like my township). In the past, many Chicago folks became disgusted with the Daley Machine and moved into the suburbs. They switched from RAT to GOP.

Nowadays, Chicago folks, who move to the suburbs and exurbs, maintain their RAT allegiance. The collapse of the GOP in the Cook County suburbs and the erosion in the exurbs are why IL won't be voting for a Republican in a statewide election for a long time.

Kendall County, roughly 40 miles southwest of Chicago, recorded the nation's third-fastest percentage gain from 2004 to 2005, growing an estimated 9.4 percent, or by about 6,800 people.

Ugh. Yes a place where all the houses look the same, every place is dominated by Applebees/BedBathBeyond/WalMart, and the kids will grow up in boredom.

There are much better places to live in the Chicagoland area. Even if you don't want to live in the city, Naperville, St. Charles, Highland Park, Winnetka, etc. are better places to raise a family than the HELL that is Kendall County.
