You think ANWR is dead? Well think again, people. (Senate Vote Tonight)

Under the radar screen, the Senate has marked up the 07 budget to include ANRW drilling. There is a vote tonight in the Senate starting around 5pm eastern time on a measure by Maria Cantwell to remove ANRW from the budget. This time it should pass in the Senate before moving on to the House.
All you folks who thought the matter was dead were not paying attention. ANWR is alive and well, and starting tonight, we are one step closer to soaking those Caribou in crude oil. (that is a joke for the humorless among us)
Drill, baby. DRILL!!

I sure hope the bill is successful this time around. We already have a pipeline. We already are successfully drilling for oil in Alaska. The place we want to drill is wasteland anyway, nothing like the communists would have us believe. We (meaning the USA) believe in responsible environmentalism. The technology for environmentally safe drilling is vastly superior to the days of yore. Let's do it!

is it this amendment??No, this is the Snowe/Wyden amendment giving the HHS the right to negotiate drug prices. I am hoping it does not pass. It's looking close.

We do have to keep things in perspective. ANWAR does not equate to much oil. A number of articles we had read at FR in the past year, indicated that over the life time of the drilling on a fraction of a percentage of our daily oil needs would be satisfied. I fact I spent a lot of time wading through a number of Oil sites, compiled info, showed some honestly arrived at figures that ANWAR over a seven/ten year period would provide at best perhaps a weeks worth of US daily consumption needs, during a one year period.
That being said, and I will not through that path, to weary, if true, at least a new precedence will be set.
And in my mind that is quite important. It could lead toward east/west/gulf coast future drilling as well as perhaps more emphasize being placed on the shall oil processes in the future. It is a start in the right direction.

I don't know WHO'S fault it is...but someone needs to get the Administration and the Senate Republicans on the SAME PAGE....
BTW...I heard on Rush today it is probable that the tax cuts WILL NOT be made permanent because of the RINOS in the Senate???
Cboldt..is that true???

So is this going to become a live thread should C-SPAN cover this vote?
I'm not too optimistic, but I need something to do tonight.

What I'd like to see is a fantastic oil strike in Israel---that'll really irritate the oil highnesses.
But in the meantime, this is a good thing. :)
