It was determined to be accidental....but many people suspected it was a terrorist act, but the government wanted to cover it up because the country couldn't handle another terrorist act at that point.

This happened two days after the feds told us that something else was coming. Local media gotto the scene before some of the First Responders did. They interviewed eye-witnesses within ten minutes of the event. Every witness reported hearing a bang that caused them to look up and the seeing fire in the mid-section, on the underside. These witnesses were for the most part retired or off-duty NYPD or FDNY. The government lies.

I remember this event clearly: it was in Queens, NY. I was in London at the time with a group of American friends. The women all believed it was terrorism, the men thought it was accidental. I still believe it was terrorism. And then that summer came the awful murders at the El Al counter at LAX. We were told that wasn't terrorism either.
Didn't they catch Richard Reid just after that?
My wife and I were in the Caribbean sitting in a resort's lobby waiting for a cab to take us to the airport when the news came over the television. Flights were temporarily suspended, and we were very agitated (to say the least) about getting on that airplane to go home.
We knew we had to get on that plane once the flights resumed; it wasn't an easy thing to do.
