Instead of vanquishing terror, all of Britain sides with the terrorist hero of this movie. They celebrate his murder of all the top officials in government, his blowing up of the Houses of Parliament and other government buildings. Reminds me of Natalie Portman's lines in Revenge of the Sith: "So this is how democracy dies: to thunderous applause."

The movie looked stupid to me anyway.

Special effects may be the only thing that keep this from being a bomb.

In "V", while Islam and the Koran are treasured but prohibited, Christianity is pure evil. Nice juxtaposition, when in real life, the 19 hijackers, the '93 WTC, U.S. Embassy, U.S.S. Cole, and British subway bombers were hardly Christians. Hmmm . . . what religion were they? We don't recall Mohammed Taheri-Azar, saying on Friday in his post attempted-murder 911 call, that he tried to use his jeep to kill Americans in the name of Jesus. No, he mentioned someone else's name, another religion . . . which are both nowhere blasphemed in "V." This will be another box-office bomb. Even if Natalie Portman is naked in it, it will bomb. The movie industry just doesn't get it: we don't want movies with hypothetical evil Christians and far right-wingers (what they see as far right-wingers anyway). If they made a movie which correctly identified today's enemy, i.e radical Islam, they'd make a fortune. Instead they churn out garbage like SYRIANA - the CIA and oil companies are BAD, BAD, BAD! - and 'V'.

Yeah...cuz u know...the good guys always blow up city landmarks.
The idiots that drum up these movies are just dupes of evil or worse; evil themselves.

Yah. I saw the trailer and figured it was another propaganda hit-piece. I'm sure it will fullfill all the wet dreams of DU. They'll be posting new fantasies about brownshirting convservatives in no time. And some will act out those fantasies. Thanks Hollywood.

If they made a movie which correctly identified today's enemy, i.e radical Islam, they'd make a fortune. More and more, I am fascinated that this hasn't happened. It's just a guaranteed money maker. But nobody touches the concept.
It's like the case of the dog that barked in the nightime.
"But Holmes, the dog didn't bark!"
"Precisely, Watson."
Hollywood won't portray our enemies as enemies (they aren't barking), because Hollywood does not recognize the bad guys as bad guys.

From your link:
Yet the parallels to the Bush administration seem inescapable. The movie is about a government that wiretaps its own citizens, that twists the meaning of words in Orwellian fashion, that accuses its enemies of "godlessness" while menacing them with truncheons, that uses its all-news channel to whip the populace into line by keeping them in a state of near panic.
Sheesh.
