I know there are many on this thread who disagree, but we could do a LOT worse than Newt. Why am I impressed? Not just because he's relatively Conservative, although on MOST issues, he is. But I'm a systems programmer and Newt thinks like a systems guy. He understands that you just can't shuffle deck chairs on the Titanic. He does have rather specific solutions you can agree with or disagree with. But he sticks his neck out. For now, This Guy is one of the guys I'M thinking about:

Not me. He had his chance, and he failed miserably.
When we as Republicans needed good and moral leadership, Newt was compromised. He's doesn't have a snowball's chance in h*ll to get my vote.

The problem with the Dems is that they are linear in their thinking---and with blinders on. You have to think through changes before you jump. You must look at the rippling effect of any change. If you don't, you end up addressing the symptom not the root cause.
