Tony Snow is back and better than ever!  Tony's gguests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:

RIP, DWP Thanks to Chuck Schumer, Duncan Hunter, and a host of other Congressmen, Dubai Ports World says it will turn its U.S. operations over to some phantom American entity. So when the UAE tells us they don’t feel like helping out in the War on Terror, we’ll thank Congress. Tony has more

From the Senate U.S. Senator Sam Brownback will be speaking at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference this weekend. Before he does, he’ll talk to Tony about a host of issues - - including the killed ports deal and the South Dakota abortion legislation.

Sensible Immigration Reform There’s been a lot of grandstanding on both sides of the immigration debate. Someone who has a common sense solution approach to the issue is Newt Gingrich. He joins Tony.

And there's more!

Here's the deal: For those fans who would like to ask for a photo-- please send an email request to Tony at tonysnow@foxnews.com (please note in the subject line of the email "For Tony")  and provide your home mailing (not email) address. Tony will send you a real, actual, signed photo -- not stuff that people have to download. Please pass it on.

By the way, if you miss anything, the show is streamed again immediately after the three hours. Please feel free to add thread narrative about what is aired on the show as a group effort is helpful to get more of the content posted and is much appreciated by those reading the thread later. If you’d like on or off the Tony Snow Show ping list, please post a request. All requests happily honored.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time -- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!

It's all politics in congress right. There is no such thing as statesmanship with those bozos.

Don't worry: I'm turning to Congress next. But make no mistake: He dropped the ball, and that's not something we can ignore. He's actively wounding his presidency and everything he wants to do by failing to take the simple step of explaining himself and seizing the bully pulpit.

Kinda tough for him to seize, when the media ignores him.

But I agree that he could have done much better. First by anticipating the uproar, based on the RECENT uproar of COSCO trying to do similar on the West Coast. If he didn't know of the PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED offer to buy, by both SSA and DPW, he should have.

If he'd talked about the deal, the transfer, months ago - or port security in general - then the public would have had time to deal with this specific issue and deal in a more relaxed, and more informed setting.

He also made a tactical error, I think, by coming out so strongly in favor (I'll veto any effort to scuttle the deal) while simultaneously saying he didn't know anything about it. That is not a good combination, and not only does it hurt the progress of "this deal," it makes him look bad, for a variety of obvious reasons. IOW, "that" seizing of the bully pulpit was damaging due to its style.

He needs to get his people involved in the structure of the proposed "US/DPW/ports" business deal, because, IMO, this brouhaha is not over yet.

Bush's staff let him down big time on this one. This is the worst blunder of his administration.

And I know I'm gonna get jumped on for this next comment, but listening to, and reading Congressman Hunter from California, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee regarding our allies in the UAE Dubai Can't Be Trusted and Dubai Record, and what they allowed to be shipped through Dubai in 2003, when we specifically asked them not to, this might just be a good thing it didn't go through. And the Congressman said the administration knew nothing about the nuclear triggers when the economic oversight committee looked at this deal and that the committee let the President down. He is not blaming the President. I don't know much about Congressman Hunter, but his statement referenced above is compelling.

The White House should have predicted the negative propaganda

I agree they should have known .. I'm not saying the president and his staff doesn't screw things up

But at the same time .. Congress piling on didn't help

I am one who had very serious concerns about this port deal ... and I was happy to hear about the 45 day review to get all the facts and take a look at the whole picture

But congress had other plans .. they had no intention of reviewing anything .. their minds were already made up

Thanks, but I'll take Tommy Franks and some of our other Military leaders take on that particular issue, over Duncan Hunter, any day of the week.

tell me how they blundered?

Congress demanded 45 days... he gave them 45 days.. then THEY DID'T LIVE UP TO THE DEAL!

The REPUBLICANS COMMITTED A Coup de ta' (sp?)- carrying torches and pitchforks as they followed Hillary and Schumer.
