Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

Posted on 03/09/2006 10:08:04 PM PST by nwctwx

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

Afghan Shops Searched for Stolen Files (Excerpted)
By DANIEL COONEY, Associated Press Writer
Apr 12, 2006 45 minutes ago

The shopkeeper, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of fears he may be arrested, said he was not interested in the data stored on the memory sticks and was selling them for the value of the hardware.

"They were all stolen from offices inside the base by the Afghans working there," he said. "I get them all the time."

About 2,000 Afghans are employed as cleaners, office staff and laborers at the Bagram base.
---
A 502-page manual on how to operate a CH-47 Chinook chopper, a mainstay of the 18,000 U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan, was also there, including photos and diagrams.

Many of the other goods on sale in the stores still had stickers indicating the price at the military store. The Afghan shops were selling them for about 25 percent less.

In one store, two Afghans with long flowing black beards were haggling over the price of compasses.

Nearby, two young boys were trying to sell cartons of fresh yogurt. One, who gave his name as Nazar, said a friend had stolen them from the military mess hall.

Another contract for security British based?

Tri-S Security Corp. has announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Procurement Division, has selected its subsidiary, Paragon Systems, Inc., to secure the DHS headquarters Nebraska Avenue Complex (NAC) in Washington, D.C.

Paragon Systems, based in the Washington, DC area, will provide highly trained armed guards, special police officers, emergency dispatchers, desk sergeants, emergency medical technicians and alarm monitors to the DHS headquarters 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paragon Systems’ management team has begun to execute the transition protocols for security services which will commence in August 2006.

Tri-S Security Wins Department of Homeland Security Contract

Border Security System Left Open-A computer failure that hobbled border-screening systems at airports across the country last August occurred after Homeland Security officials deliberately held back a security patch that would have protected the sensitive computers from a virus then sweeping the internet, according to documents obtained by Wired News

Hmmm....Tyson must be making too much money. Maybe if more Americans knew what they were doing with their money...they might just stop buying their products.

"German court set to pass 'honour killing' verdict"
Khaleej Times Online ^ | April 12 2006 | Reuters

Posted on 04/12/2006 2:52:57 PM PDT by knighthawk

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BERLIN - A German court is due to give a verdict on Thursday in the trial of three brothers of Turkish origin accused of murdering their sister because they felt their family’s honour had been tarnished by her Western lifestyle.

The so-called “honour killing” of 23-year-old Hatun Surucu, who was shot while standing at a bus stop in a Berlin suburb last year, sparked outrage and anguished debate about an immigrant community at odds with mainstream German society.

The shock was exacerbated shortly afterwards when boys at a nearby school with many pupils from immigrant families were reported to have openly applauded the killing because the victim had lived “like a German”.

The case has added fuel to a simmering debate over the descendants of the mainly Turkish “guest workers” whose labour helped fuel Germany’s post-war “Economic Miracle” but who remain in many ways foreigners in the country.

Prosecutors say the Surucu brothers felt dishonoured by their sister, who lived on her own with her 5-year-old son after leaving a cousin she had been forced to marry as a young girl.

They say the older two cooperated to procure a gun and lure her to a meeting where their youngest brother, at the time a minor, shot her several times in the head and chest.

“It was an execution in the middle of the street,” state prosecutor Matthias Weidling said last month."

****Authorities had difficulty identifying the suspect because he was from Honduras, releasing two different names after he was arrested Thursday night. But an agent with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services identified the man as Moises Gonzalez-Espinosa, 22.****

Well I reckon this is just another of those good people just looking for work in America cases - or not! Wonder how many more just like him are protesting in our nation's streets? Thanks for the post Cindy.

News Release

April 11, 2006

Two employment agencies and nine individuals charged with hiring and harboring illegal aliens, mail fraud and laundering $5.3 million
-- ICE agents arrest suspects in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio --

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Two temporary employment agencies and nine individuals affiliated with the agencies have been charged in a $5.3 million scheme involving the employment of illegal aliens, harboring of illegal aliens, mail fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering, according to a federal indictment unsealed today in the Northern District of Ohio.

This morning, agents from the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Department of Labor Inspector General, and FBI arrested three defendants in Philadelphia, PA, one in New York, N.Y, and another in Columbus, Ohio. A sixth defendant has agreed to turn himself over to federal authorities. The three remaining individuals are at large.

According to the indictment, the defendants conspired to employ illegal aliens, as well as legal aliens who had no authorization to work in the United States. They also conspired to provide transportation and housing for these aliens, as well as help them obtain fraudulent documents. The indictment also alleges that they profited from this illegal employment scheme and laundered millions in proceeds.

At the heart of the scheme were HV Connect, Inc., a temporary employment agency that operated in Philadelphia, PA, and Canton, Ohio, and TN Job Service, Inc, a temporary employment agency that operated in Philadelphia, PA, Pennsauken, NJ, Canton, Ohio, and New Philadelphia, Ohio.

According to the indictment, these agencies contracted with unwitting companies in Ohio to provide them with several hundred workers. In doing so, the employment agencies falsely represented to their clients that the workers were legal and authorized to work in the United States, when most were illegal and did not have work authorization. The employment firms also falsely represented that they would pay payroll taxes and workers’ compensation premiums for the employees.

The indictment further alleges that the owners of the temporary employment agencies and other defendants laundered roughly $5.3 million in proceeds that they earned from this illegal employment, mail and wire fraud scheme through various business and personal bank accounts.

Several of the defendants used illegal proceeds from this scheme for personal transactions, including the construction of a new home in New Jersey, the purchase of jewelry, clothing, liquor, and spending at casinos, according to the indictment.

“Worksite enforcement is a crucial piece of the department’s Secure Border Initiative,” said Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. “This case in particular, where employers are alleged to have deliberately provided illegal aliens to employers, exemplifies precisely the type of illegal facilitation that must be stopped. We will continue to crack down on those who promote violations of the rule of law by knowingly or recklessly furnishing illegal workers and employing abusive labor practices.”

“ICE has no tolerance for companies that knowingly engage in the employment of illegal aliens," said ICE Assistant Secretary Julie Myers. "We will use all of our investigative tools to bring these unscrupulous employers to justice. Today’s arrests reflect our get-tough approach. ICE is committed to exposing all illegal activities undertaken by companies to support their employment of aliens unauthorized to work in the United States. Companies such as HV Connect, Inc., undermine our laws, which ultimately undermines legal American workers.”

The indictment charges the following defendants:

Trung “Tom” Q. Nguyen: operator of HV Connect and TN Job Service / arrested today in Philadelphia.

An “Andrew” Q. Nguyen: operator of HV Connect and TN Job Service / arrested today in Philadelphia.

Hon Vuong: operator of HV Connect / remains at large.

Mshenga Abdy Nasseb: operator of HV Connect and TN Job Service and employed to supervise aliens / remains at large.

Ridha Boughalmi: employed by operators of HV Connect and TN Job Service to supervise aliens / has agreed to voluntarily surrender to authorities.

Ashraf “Alex” M. Abdelwahed: operator of Alexandria Employment Agency in New York, a temporary employment agency that allegedly recruited aliens and assigned them to work for HV Connect in Ohio / arrested today in New York, N.Y.

Abdulrahman A. Mtumwa: employed by operators of HV Connect and TN Job Service to supervise aliens / arrested today in Columbus, Ohio.

Thao Thi Nguyen: wife of Trung Nguyen / arrested today in Philadelphia

Tai “Terry”Van Nguyen: operator of TN Job Service/ remains at large

HV Connect, Inc.

TN Job Service, Inc.
An indictment is merely an allegation. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

-- ICE --

"Rice: 'Time for Action' on Iran"
By Susan Jones
CNSNews.com Senior Editor
April 12, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday said the world is very concerned about Iran's defiant pursuit of nuclear technology, and when the U.N. Security Council meets later this month, "I do think it will be time for action," she said.

"This is not a question of Iran's right to civil nuclear power," Rice told reporters in Washington. She said it's a question of the world believing that Iran should not have the technology that could lead to a nuclear weapon."

***I also think Tyson was another company that had a problem with hiring illegals.***

You're right about that. Haven't bought any Tyson product since the first reports of illegals at their plants (many years ago).

This article will give you a good perspective about Tyson and its hiring of illegals

Snip: In July[1997], the INS apprehended 72 Mexican and 33 Guatemalans at a Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Ashland, Alabama. The Ashland police chief reportedly welcomed the raid, because the "town was becoming overrun with illegal aliens." He estimated that 500 of the 2,400 local residents were immigrants. Tyson, with 1,100 employees, is the second largest employer in Clay county, which has a population of 13,600.

The women had been told they would be terminated if they missed work on the day of the March 27 rally in Detroit, said Jay Bonahoom, general manager of Wolverine Packing Co.

Wolverine Packing terminated the workers for due cause if the workers were notified in writing and orally not to miss work to attend the rally. More relevant here is the fact that Wolverine is employing "undocumented" workers, that according to an activist source in that article. "Undocumented" translates to ILLEGAL, and whatever company employs illegal aliens should be subject to a very large fine. Instead our government chooses to turn the other cheek, not collect potentially massive amounts of money from employers abusing our laws in the form of fines, and, in effect, promoting illegals in the American workplace.

If Wolverine Packing was sincere about it's efforts, it would cease and desist hiring any illegals whatsoever. The fired workers were natives of Mexico. Many had worked at Wolverine Packing for several years, and some were undocumented immigrants, Herrada said.

****With no fear that the U.S. can or will utilize the current laws to track and return the illegals to their home country.****

Once they make it across the border, we'd have to locate each and every one of them to send them back, and our politicians are doing a phenomenal job of letting them know they'll be safe and secure once they've established themselves. Just about every news source has reported we can't possibly ship back 10-40 million people - so they'd be HOME (new) FREE - them and all that can manage to get here. The evacuation of Mexico is in full swing with virtually no opposition.

Excellent post Lucy. So much for "security" within our bases. Loose security in this case may eventually lead to the deaths of American or coalition force lives. Incredibly sloppy to allow Afghan workers (no matter what their job description) access to areas with critical data. This is huge!

"Of course they are rushing to the borders in record numbers....after seeing and hearing about hundreds of thousands of their buddies marching and making demands while reaping the rewards of welfare, healthcare, education, et. al. With no fear that the U.S. can or will utilize the current laws to track and return the illegals to their home country. It is a win-win situation for these people. I would bet Vincente is filling some of the buses himself, and then unloading them a few miles from the border. "

Yep they send us the ones they don't want like the rapists and pedophiles.
