It is a combination of sabre rattling and general prepardness. If we have to strike Iran, things will get messy in the gulf for the following week(s) as they strike at the world's oil supply infrastructure.

OPINION: You're right, but I'd like to tag on that AllMyJihad seems
to be a complete granola bar chock full of fruits and nuts.

SPOKANE, Wash. An Arizonan has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors for his role in a gigantic diploma mill operation.

Richard John Novak pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court in Spokane, Washington, to conspiracy and violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Novak, who formerly lived in Spokane and now lives in Peoria, could face up to ten years in prison and (m) millions of dollars in fines.

Novak is the second person to reach a plea agreement with the Justice Department in the case with a promise to testify for the government in a trial set for this fall.

Investigators have written in court filings that the diploma mill sold an estimated six thousand phony college degrees, 40 percent of them to foreigners seeking entry into the U-S.

Rice asks Moscow to probe spy claim
By Demetri Sevastopuloin Washington

Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, has asked Moscow to investigate claims that Russia passed intelligence about US troop movements to Saddam Hussein during the early days of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

But on Tuesday – the same day that Ms Rice raised the allegations with Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister – General Peter Pace, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, said the Pentagon had not verified aspects of the documents containing the allegations.

"We still don't know whether or not the translation itself is 100 per cent accurate," Gen Pace told reporters at the Pentagon. "We don't know if this is real information or disinformation. There's all kinds of pieces of this that need to be looked into."

According to Iraqi documents used as the basis for the Iraqi Perspectives Project,a 210-page US military report on how the Iraqi leadership viewed the US invasion, the Russian ambassador to Iraq gave Saddam Hussein intelligence from inside US Central Command war headquarters in Doha.

A senior Pentagon official said on Wednesday that Joint Forces Command, which compiled the report, had taken a lot of time with the translation, which should be "considered accurate".

The authors of the report maintain that the Iraqi documents are authentic. But Centcom has distanced itself from the report, saying it cannot vouch for the documents' validity.

Russian officials have strongly denied the allegations. One Russian official said the administration had not raised the issue with the Russians until after the report had been released to the media last Friday.

"I believe it is total rubbish...without using the proper American word starting with 'bull'," Sergei Ivanov, the Russian defence minister, said on Tuesday.

The dispute comes at a sensitive time for US-Russian relations. Ms Rice is expected to meet Mr Lavrov and foreign ministers from the other permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany in Berlin today, to discuss efforts to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment.

Michael O'Hanlon, a defence analyst at the Brookings Institution, suggested that the administration probably knew about the Russia allegations previously but did not raise them out of concern that they would complicate efforts to obtain Russian support over the Iranian nuclear issue.

Thanks for posting the FReeper Activism thread. Thinking a lot of people would use it if they knew the phone number to do the reporting. Small steps, but important ones.

***I can only think that the establishment wants the turmoil that we face.***

Yep, their inaction speaks volumes. Only when faced with citizen revolt will they put band-aids on this gigantic wound to American sovereignty.

***Mexica Movement activists protest in L.A.***

As far as this continent being "their" continent, like hell it is!

Many are concerned about a civil war in Iraq, when there is one brewing in our own backyard.

Californians' views on illegal immigration have softened over the last two decades

Relocation statistics show mass exodus

Contrary Snip: United Van Lines said its annual analysis of movement within the United States shows that 55.5 percent of all moves involved someone leaving the Bay State. That puts the Commonwealth in the "high outbound" category, which is dominated by other Northern states, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

Oh, wait the mayor of Laredo is on CNN right now and she says they are wonderful and helpful to her city. I wonder what she is smoking?

More Americans kidnapped along Mexican border than in Iraq

Contrary Snip: LAREDO, Texas – This border area is one of the least publicized international crisis zones. More Americans have been kidnapped just in this area than in all of Iraq by Islamic terrorists.

UN to Iran : Stop enriching uranium or we're going to have to tell you to stop again.

So true. But, until the UN stepped in our hands were pretty much tied. Policeing Iran alone would have been a big mistake IMO.

***Past LEGAL immigrants assimilated. They learned the language, lived the American Dream and became Americans. My parents among them.****

And my grandparents, all four of them, the legal way. This is highly insulting to anyone who ever became a citizen legally - it's downright disrespectful.

Canadian rules for work permits

Snip: Work is defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations as "an activity for which wages are paid or commission is earned, or that is in direct competition with the activities of Canadian citizens or permanent residents in the Canadian labour market." If the employment you are offering falls within this definition, then your potential employee needs a work permit.

Usually, there is a two-step process required in order to obtain a work permit. The first step is for the employer to apply to the Foreign Worker Unit of Service Canada for a "confirmation". A "confirmation" confirms that there is no Canadian citizen or permanent resident who can do the job for which you are seeking to hire a foreign worker. You as employer will be required to provide evidence that you have searched for, and been unsuccessful in finding, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to fill the position. Once the confirmation is obtained from Service Canada, the potential employee can make an application for a work permit to the Canadian Consulate or Embassy abroad that is responsible for his or her country of residence or country of nationality.
