Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

Posted on 03/09/2006 10:08:04 PM PST by nwctwx

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

Valley man gets 50 years for drug running

A federal judge on Tuesday denied a Gulf Cartel member’s request to withdraw his guilty plea and sentenced him to 50 years for a cocaine trafficking charge.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested Noel Exinia, 35, in January 2005 after he used his La Feria-based trucking business to move a massive quantity of marijuana and cocaine from Mexico across the United States.
(snip)

***Court records show that FBI officials also investigated Exinia for an alleged plot to smuggle Middle Eastern terrorists into the United States, based on comments he made to a Michigan pilot, who worked as a confidential government source.***

Exinia was cleared of terrorism charges, but federal prosecutors said the La Feria man was a local organizer for the Matamoros-based Gulf Cartel and had a violent criminal history that could not be ignored.(snip)

Marchers say gringos, not illegals, have to go. (Hispanic Nazis Alert)

People on another thread were saying that the Mexican illegals just want to assimilate. Right. Not the ones chanting slogans, carrying Mexican flags, and calling people of European descent Nazis and ordering us to leave.

What I want to know is what organizations got these protest marches together - who made the signs, who arranged transportation, porta potties (if there were some), fixed the date/s, told everyone, crafted the slogans, and so on.

IMO these were as carefully staged as the Muslim riots over the cartoons. We should also note that Communists have always been masters at the staged and planned "spontaneous" demonstrations and protests. Theater masked as "the people".

Note the Communist flavor of a lot of the signs.

"We had a scare in Los Angeles," said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., who serves on the Senate Subcommittee on Aviation. "We've been told that they cannot rule out the fact that it was a shoulder-fired missile."

The Enemy Within:

RENT-A-PROTESTERS

So just where did those thousands and thousands of protesters that showed up around the country to protest an immigration bill in Congress come from? Were they angry immigrants sitting in their government housing watching C-SPAN ... only to become upset at a bill that was just out of committee? Not hardly.

The truth is starting to come out about just where these folks came from. They were protesting in the street because ..... because they were told to. It turns out the Spanish media was stoking the fire. In fact, they went a step further ... even telling them when and where to protest...what to wear and how to do it. It was an all-out propaganda war.

And just where will you hear this reported? ... Not in the mainstream media. They will report that the protests took place, then say nothing about how they got there.

As it turns out, these were essentially rent-a-mobs ... carefully coordinated over a period of weeks to show up and do their thing.

If the media really wanted to do their job, they would have sent a reporter into the crowd with a microphone to ask the protesters just which bill they were protesting and what the language of the legislation was.

20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS?
By Michelle Malkin · January 03, 2005 11:02 AM

According to Robert Justich, a senior managing director at Bear Stearns Asset Management in New York, current estimates of the illegal alien population (most news articles cite the old 8 to 13 million figure) are too low. He puts the figure at 18 million to 20 million.

The article's author, Jim McTague, notes some devastating consequences of the failure to enforce our immigration laws--and he does so with a bluntness that is unusual for the usually open-borders-friendly business press:

"[T]he underground economy is undermining the effectiveness of the Internal Revenue Service, which is highly dependent on employees' withholding taxes. If the IRS could collect all the taxes it says that it is owed from the underground economy in a given year, then the current budget deficit would disappear overnight. And if the IRS could collect these taxes every year, then the nation would have surpluses as far as the eye can see."

THANKS for that update freeperfromnj.
Updates appreciated on this.

I wonder if they will release the suspect's name
and/or any gang/criminal/organization affiliation.

Most of the time, juvenile's names are not released,
but anyway; appreciate any further updates.

"Shoulder-Fired Missiles Pose Serious Threat to Passenger Jets"

By BRIAN ROSS, JILL RACKMILL and ERIC LONGABARDI

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "March 27, 2006 — The potential target: an American commercial jet.

The potential weapon: a shoulder-to-air missile that terrorists fire at the jet on takeoff.

Worldwide, at least 24 civilian aircraft have been brought down by shoulder-fired missiles, and more than 500 people have been killed. And experts say that shoulder-to-air missiles can be bought for only a few thousand dollars on the black market. But U.S. commercial aircraft still have no defense system against these portable missiles.

Scare in Los Angeles
Last November, just minutes after takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport, an American Airlines pilot reported that something resembling a rocket might have been fired at his aircraft.

"American 612, can you verify whether you saw a flare or a rocket?" radioed an air-traffic controller.

"It looked more like a rocket to me," the pilot responded. "I'm pretty sure it was a rocket of some kind, because it had a definite plume coming out behind it."

The immediate concern was that the plume was in fact the trail of a shoulder-fired missile. The Coast Guard dispatched a cutter and a helicopter, and the FBI opened an investigation.

"We searched the area," said U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant Clay Clary. "Nothing was found."

Although officials concluded it was most likely a hobby rocket, the investigation remains officially open."
