I too have read Churchill's six voulumn History of WWII. An extremely long work but fascinating for all the telegrams orders etc. plus his own writings.
I agree, nearly a must read.

Churchill was also an excellent painter. Amazingly the first time he picked up a paint brush he was 40 years old. He was going through depression at the time and was looking for something to occupy himself.

I've read that he was diagnosed as being barely above retarded when he was a child.
I'll take that to mean merely misunderstood. He must have had a hard life coming up.
We could sure use a world leader like that now. His resolution can only be matched by our own President.
Of course, Churchill didn't have England's press to fight off every time he did something either.

I feel that Briton colonization was the main reason why extremism in Muslim countries took hold. From Palestine, Kashmir to Iraq. The British leader in 1900s were racist and they hated muslims so they used divide and conquer method to create artificial boundaries between countries in 1900s.

About 30 years ago one of my mentors said to me: “To get a good liberal arts education read everything that Winston Churchill wrote”. I have made a start. I am planning to read his series on WWI.
Some years ago a set of his complete works was for sale.
Does anyone know if they are still available?

I reckon you also have to read around Churchill. The bio’ by Lord Moran, the King’s surgeon attended (almost lived in Churchill’s pocket) for the entire period of his Prime Ministership, is a good start.
Then see some of the people he “sponsored” in WW2, Percy Hobart is one exceptional example, the first man to create and command an armoured brigade in the late 20s, and after Churchill resurrected him, the commander of the largest armoured division in WW 2, 79 Div (RE). See; ‘Armoured Crusader’ by Kenneth Macksey, MC, London: Hutchinson.
This gives a view back upon Winston.
The free world continues to owe WSC a debt of some magnitude. Did anyone know, also, he was a member of the Bricklayers union and wrote papers on prison reform prior to becoming an MP?

well, that’s true that in many countries that has majority muslim population the social development is pretty bad. but i think islam isn’t the reason for that. speaking from my own experience, i’m from uzbekistan which has more than 80% muslim population. but the reason for the economic and social challanges is that they don’t practice islam. everything is by bribery, selfishness and all the things that’s prohibited by islam pretty much exists there. when i think about it, islam would be very good solution in my country. In US and England, the system is more islamic than those so called “Muslim” countries, For example bribery does not exist, good opportunity to get knowledge, human rights, and as general more open minded people. that makes them developed countries in my opinion.
