Did the history of God's interaction with man start with Christ or perhaps earlier, like, say, when the first humans were created by God? Adam and Eve certainly knew God (Genesis 1-3).
Homo sapiens have been on the planet somewhere in the range of 200,000 years, give or take a few thousand.
Oh. Some say a million, I've also heard 46,000. Regardless, all such statements are absurd, with no substantiation whatsoever, and cannot be taken seriously.
Scripture gives us a warrant for at least 6,000 years of human history, starting with Adam and Eve.
In other words, the overwhelming number of humans who ever lived never heard of Christianity.
But everyone has heard of God. Everyone has seen the created order and knows there must be a God. Faith in God's Promised Redeemer prior to the cross, and faith in God's Provided Redeemer after the cross, but always, faith in God's Word, His promises. Christianity as an organized religion goes back to Christ, but Christianity encompasses all of human history.
Would a loving God -- who created all things and knows the facts above because it's how He set up the world -- really condem the vast majority of all humans ever born to hell because they never knew of Jesus?
No one will be sent to hell for failing to believe in a person whom they never heard of. God is just and will do right by every human being He has created. People condemn themselves by refusing to acknowledge and respond to the light they have been given. God rightly holds each person accountable for the truth they have received, starting with the most basic revelation (the created order), the opportunities given that person, and what that person did with those opportunities.
Thought you might need the definition, so you can develop some.
Incidentally, I was diagnosed 2 years ago with an illness from which I will suffer every day of my life (unless God chooses to heal me). It's rare, there is little to no research about it, and it's hereditary...they think. Do I deserve it?
Dana Reeves did not smoke, they think her illness was heriditary. Don't judge her, pray for her family. Compassion is a necessity in this life.

MC->No, you're greatly mistaken. The Bible is clear that there is only one way to heaven, and that is through accepting Jesus Christ as one's savior (John 14:6, Acts 4:12).
Great post MC but the bible does give three ways to get to heaven. The problem is that (for everyone except babies and young children) two of them don't work. The minimum acceptable standard of behavior for entry into heaven is perfection, and we just can't measure up. The first way is covered in Romans 2:13-15
Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
This is the law of the conscience. To get to heaven you simply have to never offend your conscience. Of course for anyone past a certain young age this is impossible to do. (and once violated it cannot be fixed) We know what is right and yet we choose to do wrong. This is the way that babies and young children who die get to heaven, they do not know right from wrong yet and cannot offend their conscience.
The second way is to perfectly fulfill the law, this is covered pretty clearly in the OT. Of course we've found that no one can keep the law perfectly except Jesus the Christ so this one doesn't work either. (But is theoretically possible)
Which leaves us to trusting God for our salvation. The old testament saints trusted in the coming Messiah to save them and it was counted to them for righteousness. They believed God was going to deliver them based on what they knew of Him. The new testament saints (us) trust in the revealed Messiah to save us. We know he is Jesus and He is God and man and died on the cross to pay for our sins and give us entry into heaven.
This last way works because we don't have to be perfect to use it. Jesus was perfect for us.

Nope, not second-hand smoke. There was an oncologist talking about it on the radio here. She was one of the few that didn't get it from being around smoking.
They don't know why some people get it when they don't smoke (and not exposed to second-hand smoke). Genetics does play a role, but they don't know how much of a role. They don't know if it is environmental or not.
Your using of this commiserations thread to stump your personal agendas, reminds me of Fred Phelps. He is the so-called pastor who uses the funerals of men killed in Iraq serving our country, to promote his hatred of America.
Have you not made a big enough fool of yourself already. 325 posts later and you still do not have the decency to leave this thread of condolences to the Reeves family. Have you no shame?
You need to re-read Romans.
Also, there are many "Christians" that would not have done what she did. She stayed by her husband's side when things were horrible. She didn't need to stand by her man. She really was an inspiration.

My brother died of cancer last year at the age of 48, and he was not a believer.
He was a good man and a loving husband and father.
I hope I'll see him in Heaven.
I was trully stunned to hear the news of Mrs. Reeve's passing today. From her obituary, she leaves behind a thirteen year old son. That is tragic.
Well, she was an inspiration. I don't really care about what movies he made. The fact that she stayed by his side after the accident and until his death makes her an inspiration.
They are also famous, and lots of people knew of their problems.
I would feel sorry for anyone having gone through their ordeals, and I especially feel sorry for their son.
Rest in Peace, Dana and prayers for your young son.
At one time, I lived in the Los Angeles area. There were times I would go jogging and come back coughing. Later I would find out that the day was a smog alert day, and that people were supposed to not exercise outside.
I think I mentioned jogging and someone told me about the smog alerts...
Someone who moved to Southern California from Chicago had lived there 6 months or more, and then one day it rained. The person then realized that there were mountains all around that they could not see.
SHS bothers me because it is sort of like the people I knew who would put marijuana in cookies and take the cookies to work -- just putting out the cookies and not telling anyone about it...
Sometimes my animus of modern Hollywood and their culture gets in the way.
