She died of lung cancer. Haven't found any links yet. Heard it on WLSAM Chicago.
I know of a very similar case of atypical lung cancer in a woman occurring right after the traumatic loss of a much loved person. The woman was diagnosed 4 months after the death with metastasis to the brain already. A hopeless battle is now being fought, mostly to decrease the pain of the final stages. The death is a foregone conclusion. The trauma of lost love expresses itself physically one more time.
One thing that most folks are generally not aware of is that there are different types of lung cancer. Some, like small cell and squamous cell, occur almost exclusively in smokers. Then there is bronchoalveolar carcinoma, which is not predisposed to smokers, and in fact occurs most frequently in non-smokers, and in women.
In addition, there are various genetic mutations that predispose one to the development of cancer, as you mention.
Yet, as the Apostle Paul points out in Romans, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. His standard is perfection; no human being, irrespective of how noble is his or her conduct, can be perfect. As Ephesians 2:8-9 points out, we are saved by grace through faith. It is not of ourselves, but rather a gift from God.
I know nothing of the beliefs of either Christopher or Dana Reeve. However, if Scripture is true and to be understood in its plain meaning, they would have to have had believed in Jesus Christ as Savior to be saved.
Thanks for the link, that's interesting.
The news was saying something about a genetic factor being the cause for dana getting Lung Cancer with no history of smoking or also Radon in the soil or a virus that a women can get that have some causes in Breast Cancer and lung cancer in women.
I thought the sometimes breast cancer can spread to the lungs as well.
You are correct. Or a lung cancer can metastasize to the breast. Lung and breast cancers in general both have a great predilection for metastasis, and often spread to each other due to the close proximity.

Didn't she have Pnuemonia not that long ago as well?
Let's check with the government for everything and get its permission first.
Otherwise we might choose wrongly, because goodness knows we're not fit to decide things for ourselves.
< /extreme sarcasm>
This news makes me so sad. I can't imagine the heartbreak he is going through. I'm wondering if he'll go live with one of Dana's sisters.
Too bad most everyone decided to turn this sad thread into an irrelevant argument about smoking. There doesn't seem to many of us that have expressed sorrow for the family.
Sometimes cancer just happens.
Oh this is so sad. I thought she was getting better! I know they have a young son....oh my heart goes out to that child!
I cannot believe the number of posts this generated. Why is this so big? Folks die everyday, sad though it may be, and many leave orphans.
I know a little something about the riding "accident". Mr. Reeves was a bit arrogant, as most actors are. Supreme confidence helps you deal with rejection and forge ahead in a tough industry. However, such an attitude when dealing with 1200 pound animals can help you write a check your body can't cash. I've seen him frequently try to perform beyond his abilities horseback. Sometimes that is good, as it allows us to grow, but in his case it was catastrophic. No criticism here, just observation; these things happen.
Now, simply being married to someone who suffers a paralysis, DOES NOT MAKE YOU A HERO. Why is she special?
Why are these people so special? Doesn't anyone remember "Death Trap"? A pioneering gay flick? Caan and Reeve kissing on the big screen? Were this one of the Brokeback actors dying everybody would be chiming in good riddance. ANd don't try the "he did so much for cripples" speech either. That line went sour with Tookie.
Sad story yes, but nothing special.
My father has been living with metastases for at least two years. I think that continuing to "live" life as opposed to crawling up into a ball & waiting to die is very underrated in our society.
My prayers for many productive and happy years ahead.
:)
You probably could if you could show the tax revenue that it would bring in and that it would be for the children.
Check out what happened to the lotteries. The states get billions and that is why it is legal and that is why tobacco would become legal too.
Yes stress. I'm sure.
