03/02/06 FOX Poll: Most Oppose Port Deal; Republicans Lose Ground Thursday, March 02, 2006 By Dana Blanton PHOTOS

Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports, even as a majority understands the U.S. would continue to control port security, according to a new FOX News poll. One in four sees the United Arab Emirates as a strong ally, but most either disagree or are unsure.

In addition, the poll shows Republicans have lost ground on the issue of terrorism, and by a wide margin voters now think it would be better for the country if Democrats win control of Congress in this year’s midterm election.

For only the second time of his presidency, the poll finds that President Bush’s overall job approval rating has fallen below 40 percent — today 39 percent of Americans say they approve and a 54 percent majority disapproves. Late last year the president’s approval hit a record-low of 36 percent (8-9 November 2005).

You've proven my point. You have no earthly idea who these companies are and who runs them. Thanks.

I see -- you can prove that this company is like Atta, evil and dangerous?

You can win this point with me then, easily.

Just provide some evidence that this company has acted evilly in the past.

One single allegation.

Just one!

Have another on me --

If you oppose this on the basis that this makes us unsafe, then you can certainly show evidence proving this company has made ports unsafe, yes?

Is this your idea of "reasoned political debate"? Surely you can't believe these pix of tasty adult beverages will win any points?

Does that mean you have no evidence of this company ever endangering a port?

:-)

So sinks, what is the color of the skin of an Israeli that is denied entry to the UAE... and on what grounds are they denied?

Why did Zim, an Israeli shipping company, endorse the Dubai ports deal?

This is just business.

I should admit, I'm sipping, not gulping!

I do kinda like that Smirnoff Ice, it's not bad, for a flavored beer.

But I'm a Shiner Bock fan, mostly.

And thanks for the opportunity to repost what appears to be the winning point of the debate, the more I can repeat this the better:

If you are arguing this will make our ports unsafe, then you must have some evidence that this company has endangered a port in the past, right?

Yes. They're Arab. Now quit interrupting the Two Minutes' Hate

Nope, only about 50% are Arab. UAE has a population of 4.1 million people. Its about the size of Maine. Less than 20% are IAU citizens. They are about 860,000 citizens. the other 3/4 of the population are guests and can be ask to leave at any time. UAE requires all citizens to finish primary school. Any upper levels of education is also free. Only 20% of UAE citizens work and that is of their own interest, not because they have to. They rank high in the world in money, education, and citizenship. Now why would they change their way of life for yours and Congress?

The sad thing is that some in the FRPPOC (Free Republic Perpetually Pissed Off Crowd) actually wants nukes to go off in the U.S., especially if the nukes came across the Southern border.

Actually, that'd be y'all.

We 'PPOCs', as you would have us, actually want to stop that from happening.

Oh really? Pulling the name BIN LADEN isn't a snarky INSINUATION? LOL

Your posts are filled to the brim, with 1/2 truths. You have yet to post a single solid FACT! If you did so, it would spoil your stance.

You throw out names, you throw out inferences, heck, the emotions, in your replies, are so thick, that they make it hard to see anything underneath them.

You can say that 2+2=5, with all the confidence you can muster; but, that still wont make it so.

As I sip my Pino Griogio, I have become painfully aware that we have slipped into a trap here.

I think the Democrats figured out that the public would not want any Arab company in control of anything here.

This is insane, they run a lot of businesses where I live.

They have correctly figured out that this could be a wedge issue....we seem to be helping.

They will use this issue to drive a wedge between us, and their ultimate goal is to retake the House and the Senate.

Please keep that in mind....there is really nothing else here. I have researched this extinsively and can't come to any other conclusion.

MEANWHILE

"Sure Ed, I think we should go ahead and give Cyberdyne the contract to build a self-aware computer capable of manufacturing a race of armored killing machines. I mean, you can't give me a specific example of this company ever endangering anybody before, can you?"
