03/02/06 FOX Poll: Most Oppose Port Deal; Republicans Lose Ground Thursday, March 02, 2006 By Dana Blanton PHOTOS
Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports, even as a majority understands the U.S. would continue to control port security, according to a new FOX News poll. One in four sees the United Arab Emirates as a strong ally, but most either disagree or are unsure.
In addition, the poll shows Republicans have lost ground on the issue of terrorism, and by a wide margin voters now think it would be better for the country if Democrats win control of Congress in this years midterm election.
For only the second time of his presidency, the poll finds that President Bushs overall job approval rating has fallen below 40 percent today 39 percent of Americans say they approve and a 54 percent majority disapproves. Late last year the presidents approval hit a record-low of 36 percent (8-9 November 2005).

I gave you one (psst! Pay attention to the suicide bomber-funding men behind the curtain!) but you must not have liked it because I never got an answer.

Very interesting observation, Old_Mil... The objective should be to "sweetly" disengage. Bush said as much concerning oil... He wanted to break away from the need of doing business to those hostile to American values. And now here he is handing over ports.
Of course the experts will give it a spin and a spit shine, but those people have nothing but contempt for the values of the USA. Disengage, don't get involved.
Religious considerations (which others will label as "emotional") are of the essence in this case. They do not have separation of church and state, so willy-nilly we must examine their religion to truly understand their politics.
"Slay them weherever you find them? Besiege them? Make them pay a jizya tax? Chop off all their fingertips?"
These are people who don't even know the deterrence of their own lives. They support suicide. If there must be trade, you keep it fair and distant, you do not become dependent.
How does one trust these people?
The Americans don't. Now they are going to be satisfied by the promises of bureaucrats?.
Bah!
The only "sale" is that of P&O to DPW.
Did P&O OWN our "ports" or even the TERMINALS they manged?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
???
You gave a specific allegation of a time in which this company made a port unsafe???
Where? I just looked back over all your posts, and I don't see what you could possibly be referring to.
Hmmmmmmmmmm...then I guess you missed hearing, ON FNC, that this deal is a done deal and WILL go through.
From what I have read about the way the UAE operates these terminals (not ports....for those that still haven't figured it out), I think they will be more secure than they were before.
The UAE has a lot at stake here and it is business.
The MSM is now back to KATRINA. Next up, when that doesn't stick, will be PLAMEGATE; yet again.
This is why nobody polls on "Free trade". Dealing with more important matters that one may lose on overwhelmingly is anathema.
That's what YOU have; nothing but propaganda, 1/2 truths, and snide insinuations.
Thanks for posting that!
Calling people stupid, yeah that will change their minds. NOT!!!
Then, these 'Lucies' will have some serious 'splaining to do!
"Sir, why did you oppose this deal so vehemently? What were you basing that opposition on?"
A new Congress.
Well you better get a new congress then. While everyone was ranting and raving the deal was closed last night at midnight. DP owns P&Q. Nobody's opinion is going to change it. Case closed.
Then it will be Bush lied about WMD's.
Then it will be more Abu Ghraib and "prisoner abuse".
Then we can hear again how Bush is tied to Abramoff.
I'm sure somewhere in there it we'll here about Halliburton, Shotgungate, and maybe if we're lucky, that Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 election.
If you argue that this company will make our ports unsafe, find some specific evidence of wrongdoing by this company that made a port unsafe.

Nah. When this hits the fan and fails, like with the filibuster (and the 50 other failures of the D's recently), the folks who are crying havoc will have some backlash in the polls to deal with themselves.
Again.
