03/02/06 FOX Poll: Most Oppose Port Deal; Republicans Lose Ground Thursday, March 02, 2006 By Dana Blanton PHOTOS

Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports, even as a majority understands the U.S. would continue to control port security, according to a new FOX News poll. One in four sees the United Arab Emirates as a strong ally, but most either disagree or are unsure.

In addition, the poll shows Republicans have lost ground on the issue of terrorism, and by a wide margin voters now think it would be better for the country if Democrats win control of Congress in this year’s midterm election.

For only the second time of his presidency, the poll finds that President Bush’s overall job approval rating has fallen below 40 percent — today 39 percent of Americans say they approve and a 54 percent majority disapproves. Late last year the president’s approval hit a record-low of 36 percent (8-9 November 2005).

You want to see low numbers? Keep up this Dubai deal. But Hillary thanks you all so damn much.

I couldn't agree more.

The difference with Lufthansa is that the German people aren't trying to kill Americans.

The UAE may be an ally, and even if the country weren't, there may be no way that the UAE will have any control of the ports, but I think that most average Americans see the words "Arab," "purchase," and "port" in the same sentence, and they just don't can't accept it.

Oh yeah, they are here.

I had my eye one a few that seemed to keep popping up, always pretending to be 'republicans worried about immigration', but always with the racial motives.

And like you said... right around that time.

Right... so you are saying that the UAE might be an ally, but they are still arabs, so you (and you think most people) won't trust them because, like you, they are at least subconciously racist.

Been around long? Ever hear of the Korean or Vietnam Wars? The Red Chinese killed a lot of my American soldier buddies.

Whoops: Keep harping on this Dubai deal as being bad.

LOLOL! May I second your whoops. ;)

I have been an intermittent poster, so I thought maybe you'd changed your mind, which surprised me, I must admit. :)

I know we disagree on this issue, but I've wanted to tell you--you have a GREAT tagline. Very funny. :)

"On the port issue, the new poll finds that 69 percent of Americans oppose allowing the Arab-owned company called Dubai Ports World to manage commercial operations at some U.S. ports — four times as many as support the deal"

that's a similar number compared to the rasmussen poll

Yes. Denial isn't a river in Egypt. Denial will lead to a GOP bloodletting in November 2006.

LOL... ok, so you are offended being called a "racist" because you don't want any Muslim to have anything to do with "X", because they are Muslim.

Listen... if you don't want a-rabs to run a terminal at a port because you don't trust a-rabs than have the balls to say it. Don't hide behind rhetorical questions like "why take a chance"

"Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports"The writer lost me right there! It is about running some terminals in ports that we run. Maybe when the writer gets some facts, she will reverse her opinion.

Secondly she twists the poll results to get approval of the Democrats taking over....give me a break!

Still playing the race card against Republicans, eh?

Sickening isn't it? All of a sudden these George Bush republicans are sounding as bad as the worse demoRat sleezeball race baiter you can imagine!

I swear MONEY is the only thing these people worship like a god and woe to them that stand in their way of making a buck.

Country, the lives of fellow Americans and the security of us all come in a very distant second with these...people.

So you're stupid or racist... pick one.

I'm neither.

Couldn't care less about the color of their skin.

Couldn't care less about their 'religion' per se.

But their political ideology DOES interest me greatly.

And Islam IS a political ideology, make no mistake.

I find it humorous to be called 'stupid' by those who are busy handing so much political ammo over to the Left and wasting the Republican Party's main advantages.

Ok tough-guy... I've been waiting for ONE REASON why you are against the deal.

All I hear is "they are a-rabs, and I don't trust a-rabs" or for the spineless "they are a-rabs, why take a chance"

I have no problem you being against this port deal, if you hate a-rabs and muslims and want to make them all your enemy (or already think they are), then fine... be against the deal. But don't get all pissy you get called on your reasoning.

What do you know of the UAE's political ideology?

I would guess, not very much, otherwise you would not have brought it up as a 'supporting' point for your argument.

I fully realize that Islam is political ESPICALLY in the ME... I'm just not so fast to make the every last one of the billions of them my enemy based on that fact alone.

As I said before... you have a personal problem with a-rabs, or you just don't understand what this whole deal is about.

Scott Rasmussen is considered the premier pollster by most FReepers. He nailed the 2004 elections right on the money. Bush`s numbers have to come up if the GOP is gonna keep their margins in Congress.

Bush JA Today from Rasmussen 3-2-2006:

President Bush Job Approval

Thursday March 02, 2006--For the fourth straight day, only forty-three percent (43%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. His Job Approval Rating hasn't been lower since early November.

The President earns Approval from 47% of men and 39% of women.

Just 20% of all Americans Strongly Approve of the President's performance in office. Twice as many, 40%, Strongly Disapprove.

GOP versus Dems, from the Polling Report:

I see the harpy-carpies are out again. Same names, same short-sightedness, same lack of facts. Same old, same old.

Stupid is as stupid does. Or posts.
