Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Schummer asking to vote against cloture at this time
Halliburton?
I would die laughing if it was
Because Chuckie is on tape saying he trusts them
Mo I'm geting so dizzy over this!
Dubai Ports has just announced they will divest themselves of all American investments.
I do so hope the people who were nearsighted about this deal and hysterical before they knew the facts are happy as they watch their investments tank while other countries decide they don't want to invest here anymore.
Chuck saying this deal should not go through
Reid is up now asking for time to be equally divided on both sides
He's just been thrown way off stride. I love this stuff.
I know....and earlier Lautenberg had to answer Coburn...and couldn't do that either...
They STILL are acting like there has been no deal...this has to be killing them.
Reid is saying that "incompetence" is still ruining this country...I would say the incompetence is in the two houses of Congress!!
Ried is up taking credit for lobbying reform. He calls it an honest leadership amendment. Says they can do two things at one time, Dubai and stopping a foreign government with ties to terrorism getting control of our ports. The Admin is dangerous and incompetent. Hahahah, he's going to give us tough and smart national security policies. "Do we want a country, not a company, running our ports?" He has not noticed the absence of the rug beneath him.
Been putting away groceries, listening to Rush and heard this, so I came looking for you just to yell
HALLIBURTON! LOL
BBL..hugs to ya both
I think Rush goofed on his announcement that Dubai Ports will divest itself of American investments.
I missed it. Probably something that was tangentially related to his position that UAE should not be permitted to operate a business in the US.
Wonder if they'll kick Emirates Air Freight out of JFK airport?
LOL!!
I think this one time...that even Rush won't mind admitting he goofed, if it works out..
Especially seeing all of the chicken littles from both sides of the aisle...worm their way out of this corner.
What Rush read was just the first part -- he said they were divesting of US investments and interests and really what they are divesting is just their management interest in the ports deal.
None .. they will just blame the President like they do with the pork spending that add onto bills
Yep! Sigh! I just don't know. I used to think adults were in charge now I am not so sure.
