In Florida's U.S. Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson leads U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, his likely Republican challenger, 53 - 31 percent, similar to his lead in August 31, 2005, and November 15, 2005, Quinnipiac University polls. Republicans back Harris 62 - 22 percent, while Democrats back Nelson 82 - 7 percent and independent voters go with the Democrat 55 - 23 percent.
"U.S. Rep. Harris has gained no ground against Sen. Nelson, who has a lukewarm 49 - 20 percent approval rating for the third poll in a row," Brown said.

Nevertheless, Katherine has her work cut out for her.
Another poll (issued a couple of weeks ago) had Harris within 9 points of Nelson. The poll said that she had narrowed the gap.
I'm not sure who to believe - but one thing seems apparent. Harris is going to have a hard time beating Nelson.
It truly is pathetic that the GOP can't field a candidate that can beat Nelson in Florida. Where is Jeb when you need him?
What can we do down here in Florida? Nelson is an idiot.
answer: Bill Nelson's lead
Now where are all those GOPers in FL who insisted that Mrs. Harris could beat Nelson if everyone got behind her and pushed? Certainly, 22 points is a lot to overcome, but it can be done. The question is: How in Hell does one do that? She will draw a lot of fire because of her role in 2000 Presidential Election. Democrats will come out to vote against her in droves.
I thought it was the location of "The Singing Tower."
If you believe in Quinnipac we'd have President Horseface. 22 points in Quinnipac translates to about 4-6 points in Rasmussen. Who do you believe more?
Nelson beat McCollum. There ain't no way he's going to lose to Harris. Florida is pretty much a 50-50 state on a state race level, as evidenced by the Bush squeaker in 2000 and the Martinez squeaker in 2004. If you're down 22 points in a state that has a 50-50 partisan split, you aren't doing very well.
She is definately a babe!
not anymore
No kidding. A lot of these folks were scarce on the thread showing a 49-40 race. Now I don't know what ground truth is, but just a couple of weeks ago Jeb started publicly supporting KH, and she just hitched a ride on Air Force One last week (IIRC). Sorry, but I don't believe either of those things would have happened if the powers that be think she's polling in the low 30s.
Then explain Jeb stomping McBride despite a national effort by the Dems. (Hint: You can't)
Jeb did not win because the GOP has a registration edge. He won because of his personal leadership capabilities and McBride's lack thereof, plus the fact that he had a good record, and his brother was the President.
LOL. So you keep your conscience in your shorts, eh?
I will not soon forget the Fox interview with her maybe six months back or so, when she made sure her, uh, assets were profiled during the interview by awkwardly turning sideways while talking about her candidacy.
Apparently a lot of William Donald Schaefers in Florida.
I don't want her to become the Bob Dole of Florida.
