Just heard on Fox News. Don Knotts dead at 81
*sigh*
Hollywood has (cough) come a long way, hasn't it?
Oh. Sad!! He was 81???
Juanita, Jaunita, dear sweet Juanit....
I really enjoyed that movie. God bless his family and friends.
There is one episode where he gets to load six.
Barney you're gassed!!!!!
You're absolutely right; I stand corrected. I had a feeling it may have been something else. Thanks for making it right. Funny moment, all the same.
Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Knotts, and your WWII service (not as a Marine DI, btw, but as an entertainer in the Army).
Oh no. I really liked him. One of my favorite movies of his was "The Reluctant Astronaut." He will be missed. May God comfort his loved ones!
While my memory of him was slightly tarnished by his appearance in the despicable Pleasantville, the years of joy he gave me as Barney Fife and in is classic film roles are more than enough to overshadow that.
Good, Clean fun replaced with movies like "Pretty Woman" and "Brokeback Mountain" is nothing to be happy about.
Hollywood wants our kids to act like those characters.
The man did know how to dress....his clothes on Three's Company were classics
TVLand will do a tribute im sure
Yeah, I always dreamt of living in a town like Mayberry. It would be great.
It was the best late night show ever !
.
"What, me NERVOUS..?"
...Man on the Street DON KNOTTS on The STEVE ALLEN TV Show in the 1950's.
A total crack-up.
.
The Reluctant Astronaut, The Ghost and Mr Chicken, The Shakiest Gun in the West...........whenever one of those movies came on when I was a kid, my family would gather around the set and have a great time.
Funny, classy, wholesome entertainment.
Don Knotts enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19, serving during World War II. In addition to serving on the field, he used his time in the Army to hone his entertainment skills, entertaining his fellow soldiers, eventually discarding his ventriloquist dummy and standing on his own as an entertainer. He served the U.S. Army honorably, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with 4 bronze service stars), Army Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge (with Carbine Bar) and Honorable Service Lapel Pin. Don Knotts was honorably discharged on January 6, 1946.
