FR Poll: After a few days of fact finding and debate, do you now support or oppose the Dubai Ports deal?
Support
Oppose
Undecided
I thought the Meirs/Alito rope-a-dope was brilliant and inspired but ... I'm beginning to think W knows Sun Tzu better than Sun Tzu.
Pres. Bush has drawn every Marxist Dem (and a bunch of RINOs) into the middle of a clearing where everyone can see them. The facts are so strong here (and the attention so tightly focused, thank you Schmuckey) that it will soon be apparent to all that opposition to the deal is motivated by racism, isolationism and Bush hatred and is entirely political. Every pol who opposes it will be burned or certainly should be if their conservative competition doesn't sit on their matches. (You can't ask your enemy to do more than pour gasoline over themselves.)
It's amusing to watch Hillary, Chuckie and the like build themselves into passable likenesses of Pat Buchanan.
To me its not the "security" ineptitude, per se; its the political ineptitude. My god "Arab country to run six US ports" and politically its no big deal????? Who's kidding whom?
Support.
Even funnier when you recall their "Bush-has-made-us-unpopular/less-safe" theme from 2003/4.
Remember when Bush told France, Germany et al that only countries who supported the Iraq war effort would be allowed to bid on reconstruction contracts? Kerry, Schumer, Kennedy, Clinton all went into a purple rage, saying "How can we treat allies this way? We'll need their help in the war on terror!!!". Well, here we have UAE---a far better ally than France was in 2003. The Dems are just being opportunists.
That is just the sort of match conservative pols need to light and toss on this "Pile-On-Bush" bunch. Call it a bonfire of the Vain.

Yep, right up until the year 1979 we were nothing more than a nation of uninformed rabble.... and then along came C-SPAN. :)

Is that how you make decisions? Based on what your gut tells you?
No wonder you oppose this deal. You don't appear to have any facts.
Oppose.
"At first, it was reported that the deal involved only six ports but DP World's Web site says it involves 21 ports, from Portland, Me., to Corpus Christi, Texas."
Now, I'm even more opposed. For the record, Congress should have known more about this long ago. Where were they? Time to CYA.
support.
I want to hear from the FReepers in bed with Hillary....
Was is good?
21 ports, Wuli. The deal seems to be the surprise of the year to Congress, the President, the general public.... gee, everyone but the Treasury committee that "reviewed and approved" it.
Kinda puts the whole "barking moonbat" thing in perspective.... :)
-Dan
Hi Jim. I'm still uncertain at this point. I was initially opposed, but now am willing to hear the case for the deal. So I guess I'm a fence-sitter for now.
You forgot to call me a racist. :)

One might as well care what Rosalyn thinks..........her husband is no more relevant to the affairs of this country, or the world than she is.
I have a tendency to support anything that a union fights radically against. But I had to put a lot of thought into this one when I answered "support".
Hell, you're in bed with Jimmy Carter. (Any complaints from Rosalynn?)
-Dan
OPPOSED
Those who are still violently opposed to it are doing so based on emotion and not fact, because the facts from those who know.......including the military...........don't warrant concern.
I, like you, was initially opposed.
